The present site of Odawara Castle is designated as a National Historic Site, including most of honmaru main compound and ninomaru secondary compound and part of the outer castle enclosure.     Yugawara Art Museum is located in the town of Yugawara in Ashigarashimo County. It consists of a section containing works by artists who had studios in Yugawara as well as a section devoted to the works of Reiji Hiramatsu, a contemporary artist who paints in traditional Japanese style. A rest area in the exhibition galleries overlooks a lovely Japanese garden, with seasonal views of plum, cherry, and other blossoms as well as autumn leaves. The museum also contains a coffee shop and a shop where visitors can buy souvenirs of Yugawara.

    The Living National Treasures Museum is an art museum displaying artworks created by Japan’s Living National Treasures (persons designated as Preservers of Important Intangible Cultural Properties), with a particular focus on ceramics, but also including dolls, lacquerware, and other masterpieces. After viewing the exhibits, visitors can enjoy green tea served in tea-ware made by famous Living National Treasures (some now deceased) such as Hamada Shoji, Kaneshige Toyo, and Miwa Jusetsu.

    The writer of the headline review does not seem to have got beyond the museum shop. There are three more floors of very good modern Japanese ceramics, several Roualts, a Renoir, a couple of Picasso...

    This art museum is located along Prefectural Route 739 in Manazuru, Manazuru Town, Ashigarashimo County. It is home to works by western painter Kazumasa Nakagawa, who is representative of post-war Japan and had an atelier in this town. There are regular exhibits and themed exhibits in five exhibition rooms, where oil paintings, writings, illustrations, book bindings and about 80 works in total are displayed.

    真鶴駅から県道739号を約3キロ。週末は道路渋滞要注意。中川一政没後30年記念「二つの中川一政美術館交流展」を見に行きました。観覧料800円、JAF会員証提示で100円引。建物は公共建築百選に選ばれた如何にも役所造といった外観。茶室内に限り写真撮影可能。真鶴半島ドライブがてらついで寄りには敷居が高いかも。アトリエはコロナの影響か公開されていませんでした。

    This small museum features the collection of a pharmacy that was founded in 1633. It has valuable antiques related to medicine on display, like an aged druggist's chest of drawers, a mortar to grind medicine, and a scale. The Meiji period thatched roof building (restored in the Taisho period) reflects Odawara's history.

    First opened in 1995, here visitors can learn about the 4.6 billion year history of the Earth and the diversity of life found on her. The museum’s standing exhibition is divided into four themes—the Earth, life, Kanagawa, and symbiosis. The exhibition includes over 10 thousand real specimens, including a meteorite in the shape of a globe, ancient dinosaur fossils, mammals, plants, and inspects. One of the highlights of the museum is its showroom filled with 27 of 3.2 meter tall giant encyclopedias containing various exhibits. The museum’s theater, showing nature documentaries and science-based quizzes, is also a popular attraction. A restaurant and museum shop can also be found inside. The closest station is Iriuda Station.

On the second floor there is also a permanent gallery of work from their International Small Art Exhibition, Suzuhiro Kamaboko Board Painting Contest Besides kamaboko, original souvenirs are also for sale.

Kusunoki Forest, one of the 50 top forests in Kanagawa, is just a little further away. Bring a lunch so you can enjoy hiking and a picnic.

    This park is on the Chitose River in central Yugawara Onsen. It features flowers that appear in the Manyoshu classical poetry collection and has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Historical Parks in Japan. Historical and cultural features on the expansive grounds include a monument with poetry related to the hot spring and Manyotei, a tea house that incorporates sukiya style architecture from the Manyo period. You can enjoy tea to your heart's content. The deeply moving park scenery also includes a vermilion painted bridge over the Chitose River and a walkway surrounded by greenery.

    Tsujimura Farm's botanical garden. It was created by the local Tsujimura family between 1965 and 1974. The 4.6-hectare site has a bamboo grove, a plum grove, and a hill that gets a lot of sunlight. It's especially known for its approximately 560-tree plum grove, some of which are over 100-years old. In early spring the plum trees burst into bloom.

    One of the four nature trails in Manazuru Hanto Prefectural Natural Park. The Manazuru Peninsula juts out three kilometers from the southeastern edge of the Hakone volcano into Sagami Bay. It's protected as a fish preserve forest and a prefectural natural park. This trail extends eastward from the Nakagawa Art Museum towards the cape. It is about 300 meters long and there is a small bird watching hut along the way.

    A hiking course for beginners that takes you through Makuyama Park and up 626-meter Mt. Maku. One highlight is the beautiful sight of 4,000 plum trees in Makuyama Park that start blooming in February. The view is like looking down on a red and white carpet. There are also cherry blossoms to enjoy during the springtime. The view of Sagami Bay and Manazuru Peninsula from the summit of Mt. Maku is great too.

    Reach the start of this hiking course by taking a 16-minute bus ride from Yugawara Station to the Oku-Yugawara bus stop. The trail will bring up Mt. Tensho before reaching a station. The red maple trees in Yugawara are beautiful in autumn, and the Oku-Yugawara area in particular is a great place to see them while listening to the quiet murmuring of the river. There are powerful waterfalls like Hakuun Falls and Fudo Falls, and there is a day-use hot spring along the way to ease your fatigue away.

It's capable of firing not only Oribe, Kiseto, and Shino pottery, but also celadon, underglaze iron decoration, ceramics painting, and porcelain decorated with colored pictures. In addition to trial ceramics classes, classes where you learn the basics, and classes designed to suit participants' needs, they also have five hands-on pottery workshops. All of workshops and classes require reservations.

    "This hiking course for good walkers starts from Yugawara Station and climbs Mt. Shiroyama. It covers about 13.6 kilometers and takes about 230 minutes to hike. Along the way, there are numerous ""power spots,"" places thought to have mystical or healing earth energy. These include Seiganji Temple with its huge Chinese juniper tree; Gosho Shrine, which is famous for its large ginkgo and camphor trees; and a cave that it's said Yoritomo hid in while being pursued. Mt. Shiroyama's summit has a magnificent view of the azure of Sagami Bay below with the islands of Izu in the distance."

    A museum that overlooks Sagami Bay displaying works of art formed by fire like swords and ancient ceramics. The second floor has an exhibit of swords that are national and prefectural Important Cultural Properties, as well as 13 masterpieces by the great swordsmith Masamune. The first and third floors display a total of about 50 pieces of modern and antique ceramics like celadon and Tang Sancai from China, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
