    This is an arcade that is in central Yokosuka City. It has a 'foreign atmosphere' because of its proximity to the US Navy Base 7th Fleet. Shops selling military goods and specialty stores line the shopping arcade. The suka-jan jacket, a highly embroidered letterman jacket, originated here and you can have one tailor made at a suka-jan specialty store. Many visitors enjoy 'navy burgers' or 'kaigun curry', the local specialty cuisine.

    Located on the eastern tip of the Miura Peninsula, Japan's first Western lighthouse was designed by the French engineer, Verney, in 1868, and was lit in 1869. The original lighthouse is said to have been an elegant structure with a light tower on the roof made of bricks from the Yokosuka Steel Works.

    This is the morning market that opens in front of the Kawasaki fish market. The market operates every Sunday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.in the morning. Around 30 different sellers set up shop. The market primarily offers tuna, but seasonal seafood, sea products, and other fresh vegetables, flowers, bread, pickles, beans, and even boxed lunches are for sale. The market throngs with locals and tourist every week, and at times, other entertaining events are sponsored also.

    This nature park dedicated to the conservation of the creatures which live in the mountains and forests and along the waterways of the Miura Peninsula, is located a 15-minute walk from Keikyu Maborikaigan Station. The park grounds encompass forest, reservoirs, and waterways; a circular walkway in the park takes around 20 minutes to walk and along its length you can see the area's waterside and forest creatures. In early summer near the water, you can see Mnais costalis and Genji and Heike fireflies, while a variety of mushrooms can be spied in the forest in autumn. The park was originally the site of an army heavy artillery school, and the remains of an ammunition depot and bomb shelter, as well as un-excavated underground facilities are still located on its grounds.

    開園60年になった横須賀市が運営する穴場の自然観察園です。駐車場が無いのでアクセスしにくいです。秋にはガイドツアーの企画が予定され参加者募集中のようです。

    Kanagawa Yokosuka-shi Nishiuraga 6-46
    This is the site of a Japanese lighthouse built on the tip of the west coast of Uraga Port a 10-minute drive from Keikyu Uraga Station. The two-story lighthouse was built with a stone foundation in 1648, and it is said its light reached all the way to the Boso Peninsula. For some 220 years until it was closed in April 1872, the lighthouse helped maintain maritime safety in the area at night without missing a single day. After it was closed, it was demolished, leaving only the stone foundation, but it was reconstructed exactly as it once looked in 1988. Today, the rebuilt lighthouse continues to look on as numerous boats ply the nearby waters.

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
