A Japanese confectionery shop located on the approach to Kawasaki Daishi, a five-minute walk from Kawasaki Daishi Station on the Keikyu Daishi Line. Their Kuzu Mochi made from fermented wheat starch cakes are a local favorite that are said to bring happiness. They come wrapped in paper with a yellow and dark brown color scheme along with a yellow handbag. Founded in 1917, we recommend all the sweets in this historic shop.

    Kanagawa Kawasaki-shi Tama-ku Masugata 7-1-3
An open-air museum featuring old kominka houses. It features 25 Cultural Properties that have been transferred to the location and rebuilt, including private homes from the Edo period. They run eight indigo vats, passing down Kawasaki City's indigo dying traditions, and offer easy access to traditional indigo dyeing workshops. There are three workshops available: Handkerchief dyeing, dyeing your own item, and dyeing for groups. Reservations are required for the latter two workshops. They aren't absolutely required for handkerchief dyeing, but it's not a bad idea; if they fill up with group reservations you might be out of luck.

"A Chizan-ha Shingon sect Buddhist temple called Kasugayama Ioin which is said to have been founded by the priest Gyoki on the order of Emperor Shomu in the Nara period. It came to be called the ""Manga Temple"" from the Japanese style cartoons that were painted on the sliding doors of the main hall during maintenance work that was carried out in 1968. Evergreen trees like chinkapins and bamboo leaved oaks grow thick on the precincts. Valuable for its diverse alluvial flora, it has been designated a prefectural Natural Monument."

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
