A long-standing bakery founded in 1888 and located in Motomachi Shopping Street. Uchiki Pan is said to be the originator of Japanese “shokupan” a bread loaf. This famous shop has been frequently featured in the media. One of the shop’s most popular items is the “England” shokupan, which is made with hops instead of yeast. Made according to an original, old-fashioned recipe, Uchiki Pan’s shokupan is large and chewy, perfect for any meal. Uchiki Pan also offers a variety of other items, including sweet breads and French bread.

This is a place for people that like English style bread and items from the ancient past! White bread that dries to a crisp after 30 seconds in the toaster - that kind of thing. Rubbish stuff...

A New York-style bakery located along Daikanzaka. The chef is truly talented, having been involved in opening numerous bakeries and having won awards in contests. Inside, the bakery is filled with an abundance of breads and cookies. Examples include Hershey’s chocolate croissants and authentic bagels, as well as hot dogs. Come and enjoy the American flavors on offer. Visitors can have their fill of a variety of other choices as well, such as fresh side breads and Hawaiian-style donuts.

Many delicious baked goods using whole wheat, rye, etc. Not just bleached white flour like the majority of bakeries in Japan. Reasonable prices for the step up in quality.

This longstanding bakery shop, established in 1948, is a two-minute walk from Yamate Station on the JR Negishi Line. At any given time, the shop's shelves are lined with over 100 varieties of breads, and lines of waiting customers seeking its fresh-baked breads are common. The shop's high-class Special Bread, a Japanese shokupan bread, is its most popular product. The faint sweetness you sense the moment you take a bite comes from the shop's unique admixture of honey. The variety of breads the shop makes has continued to increase since the day it first opened its doors, and customers will find new flavors every time they come here.

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
