  • Shichirigahama

    This beach’s name, meaning “seven ri beach,” comes from the fact that it extends seven ri (an ancient Japanese unit of distance approximately 3.9 kilometers long) from Inamuragasaki to the Koyurugi Peninsula. Renowned for its beautiful view of Enoshima and Mt. Fuji, the area frequently appears in ukiyo-e and in the lines of kabuki plays. The area was also once open as a swimming beach, but today swimming is prohibited along its entire length.
  • Zushi Beach

    The coastline facing Sagami Bay is called Zushi Beach. It's known for its shallow water and calm waves and it gets packed with sea bathers when the hot season arrives. They hold the Zushi Beach Fireworks in summer and a horseback archery event in November. Its monument commemorating the Shintaro Ishihara novel The Season of the Sun is famous. The nearest stations are Zushi Station on the JR Line and Shinzushi Station on the Keikyu Zushi Line.

    The Hashirimizu Coast was a popular sea bathing spot in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. The swimming beach has been closed since 2017, but it is still one of the few spots on the Miura Peninsula where it is possible to dig for shellfish, so it is popular with families. Furthermore, this stretch of the coast offers a panoramic view that includes Sarushima Island, the Boso Peninsula, and Tokyo Bay, including close-up views of the large ships that pass in and out of the bay.

    This is a beach in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. One of the few seacoasts within the city with clear waters, it is not only available for swimming in the summer but is used for marine sports all year round. The expansive sandy beach and the gentle waves make for a relaxing atmosphere for families with children. The rocky outcroppings, on both ends of the beach provide good snorkeling waters. There are warm water showers and changing facilities for a fee, the beach clubhouses have barbecue pits for visitor’s use.
  • Hashirimizu Beach Clam Digging Ground

    A shell-gathering spot in 1-Chome, Hashirimizu, Yokosuka City. It is the only spot within Miura Peninsula for clam digging. You can search for clams raised on the famous waters of Hashirimizu while gazing at Boso Peninsula or the boats criss-crossing through Tokyo Bay. It is located next to “Hazaki Ryokuchi”, which is known as an observation spot for Mt. Fuji.

    Along National Route 134 of Zaimokuza, Kamakura City, this coastline is positioned on the eastern side hugging the river of “Yuigahama Coast”. The vicinity is an area featuring many old villas and recreational facilities, and has been a beach-going area for over 100 years. Currently, there are 10 beach clubhouses arrayed, with several boat huts in operation as well.

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
