    Kanagawa Pref. Ashigarashimogunhakonemachi Miyanoshita 340-2
A long-standing tofu shop which has operated for over 100 years since Japan’s Edo period. The shop is famous for its kumi-dofu, a tofu which is given a silky texture somewhere between regular tofu and soy milk by reducing the amount of nigari used. Many like to stop by the shop to pick up a little kumi-dofu as a snack while on a stroll. The shop’s dessert-style tofu, an exquisite balance of delicate sweetness and tofu flavor, is superb, and the black sesame flavor is particularly popular. The shop also sells a variety of other tofu varieties and tofu products, including kinugoshi silken tofu, aburaage fried tofu, and ganmodoki deep-fried tofu mixed with vegetables. This famous shop has been featured on TV. The closest station is Miyanoshita Station.

This coffee bean specialty shop is located on the road passing in front of Hakone-Yumoto Station, and they only offer takeout food. The coffee that has been roasted before one’s eyes after the order is placed is characteristic for its gentle aftertaste and fragrance. The Coffee-milk Soft Ice Cream made with dark roast coffee beans and milk is such a popular product that lines can form even during the colder part of the year, and its appeal lies in its subtle sweetness and rich taste. Benches have been placed at the front of the shop for those that want to enjoy their purchase inside.

Kanagawa Areas

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
