  • Ashigara Manyo Park

    This park is along Ashigara Highway in Yagurasawa, Minamiashigara City. Ashigara Pass used to be a key station for transportation linking the eastern and western country, and the “Manyoshu” contains a number of poems written by guards passing to western Japan about this area. Inside the park, you can get a view looking over Ashigara Plains and Sagami Bay, find inscriptions of “Manyoshu” songs related to Ashigara, see plants mentioned in those songs cultivated here, and enjoy coming into contact with Ashigara history, nature, and culture.

    A comprehensive park located in Hayama Town, Miura County, Kanagawa Prefecture. The park has baseball fields, tennis courts, and a dog run, and its fairly flat terrain also makes it a great place for jogging and walking.

    "This nature park, located a seven-minute drive from the Zushi Interchange on the Yokohama Yokosuka Road, makes use of recycled water from the Oppama Purification Center. Adjoining the Kaiyama Ryokuchi park, the park is a part of a ""green network"" along with other green spaces in the area. Seasonal plants grow lushly on the grounds and, if you are lucky, you just might see a squirrel or other small animal."

    This barbecue area is located in Kannonzaki Park a five-minute drive from the Maborikaigan Interchange on the Yokohama Yokosuka Road. Park highlights include highly variegated coastline and the white sand Tatarahama beach, and visitors can enjoy activities such as clamming, swimming, and fishing. The park is outfitted with facilities which make barbecuing convenient, including toilets and a communal sink area located near the barbecue area.

    This park was built as part of the Yokosuka Research Park development a six-minute drive from the Sahara Interchange on the Yokohama Yokosuka Road. The park has four sanded artificial turf tennis courts which are outfitted with lights for night games. The tennis courts are used as a detention basin to help protect the development from flooding, and as such they may not be available for use after heavy rains until the water covering them drains away and dries. Registration to use the courts is conducted at the park management office; you can also use the online Yokosuka City Public Facilities Reservation System. The Sugigamazeki weir adjoining the court was once called Sugigama Pond and was a habitat for Japanese pond turtles.

    The park is a 15-minute walk from Yokosuka-Chuo Station on the Keihin Kyuko Line and was built on the site of a former Japanese Army training battery, and is a popular nighttime spot with a view of Tokyo Bay and the Boso Peninsula on the opposite shore.

Takeyama, known for its azalea blossoms, this spacious park has a natural green space for forest bathing and strolling, a children's playground with colorful play equipment, a softball field with night game facilities, and four tennis courts with sand-filled artificial turf. Parking is available, but public transportation is recommended since the park is crowded on weekends and holidays.

    This park, located a five-minute walk just west of Myorenji Station, is notable for the fact that the majority of its grounds are occupied by various pools. The park has three pools in total - a 25-meter-long pool, a lazy river pool, and a children's pool. In most years, the pools are open every day from mid-July to the start of September. Additional facilities on the park's 28 thousand square meter grounds include a square and a playground with swings and slides. The park is frequented primarily by area families with children.
  • JOINUS no Mori Chokoku Park

    This park is located on the roof of the JOINUS mall connected to the west exit of Yokohama Station. You wouldn't believe that such a lush park could be found in the city. Boasting 4,600 square meter grounds, some 20 thousand trees have been planted in the park, and there's also a waterfall and a walking path. In addition, works of art by international sculptors are positioned throughout the park. The park also has benches and many people come here to take a break after shopping or having lunch in the mall. The park's beautiful scenery is also acclaimed for its artistry. Note that park hours vary depending on the season.
  • Moegino Park

    This park, situated right next to the Moegino Koen (Moegino Park) bus stop, is located in an area surrounded by elementary and junior high schools. In addition to benches you can rest on, facilities include drinking fountains and toilets. In spring, visitors can take in the sight of cherry trees in bloom. In addition, there's a pond on the north side of the park which takes up around one third of the grounds, and fishing is permitted in one very specific area. Note, however, that ocean surf cast-style fishing is prohibited. Sometimes ducks can be seen on the pond.

    This park, sandwiched between National Route 246 and the Tomei Expressway, is located a 10-minute walk from Eda Station and Ichigao Station. Many trees grow on the grounds and visitors can enjoy nature walks. The park also has a playground with a tunnel slide and is popular with children. Local residents can be seen enjoying gateball on the park's multipurpose ground. In addition, there's a community center on the grounds which serves as a relaxation and rest space, and the park also holds activity classes and concerts.
  • Cupnoodles Museum and Park

    This park is located an eight-minute walk from Minatomirai Station and Bashamichi Station and is also 12 minutes from Sakuragicho Station. The park is also located close to the Kokusaibashi/Cupnoodles Museum-mae bus stop. Facing the sea, visitors to the park can relax and take in a view of Yokohama Port right in front of their eyes. The charming park also delight's visitors with views of the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and other distinctive Yokohama scenery; experiencing little traffic, the park is a well-kept secret. The park's night views are also beautiful. Many seagulls gather on the park's grass lawns.

    This citizens' forest park is located a five-minute walk from the Shishigaya bus stop a 13-minute ride on the Kawasaki Tsurumi Rinko Bus from JR Tsurumi Station. Almost the whole park is situated on a northern slope, resulting in it being pleasantly cool even in the summer. The area is conserved and made available to the public as a citizens' forest park with the cooperation of landowners to ensure that ancient forest in Yokohama remains intact. Part of the History and Greenery Trail, Kumano Jinja Shimin no Mori, Komaoka Nakago Shimin no Mori, and Futatsuike are located nearby.
  • Roka Memorial Park

    This park is in Sakurayama, a place associated with Roka Tokutomi, a great literary figure from the Meiji period. The park has a local museum with displays containing an array of items related to literature and the history of Zushi. It's also home to the Former Wakimura Residence, a city designated Important Scenic Building, as well as the Roka Tokutomi Literaterary Monument.

    A residential park on the summit of Mt. Ida facing the bus road. The view from the north side of the park is superb. You can see the Kosugi tower and even as far as Shinjuku on clear days. It is also known for its beautiful night view which even takes in Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree.
  • Itsukushima Shissei Park

    A five-minute drive from the Hadano-Nakai Interchange on the Tomei Expressway. This is one of the few parks in the prefecture that preserves the natural wetlands and is the source of the Katsura River which flows clear out to Sagami Bay. The clear spring water created by the wetlands is home to many rare creatures including fireflies, kingfishers, and stone loaches. There are a number of paths and walking trails throughout the park and alongside the seasonal flowers you can also enjoy the sight of fireflies from mid-May to mid-July. The park centers around the Itsukushima Shrine, commonly called Benten-san, and is also home to a gazebo, open rest area, lawn space, and more.

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
