    This is a large bookstore located five minutes on foot from JR Ikebukuro Station East Exit, and the sales floor is from the basement to the ninth floor. There are books of various genres ranging from literary books to magazines, comics, medical and other specialist books etc. Many people visit from far away to find the book they are looking for. Inside the shop, you can search for your desired book with the help of a search machine, or you can use the desks and chairs provided to choose your books carefully. There is also a café on the fourth floor.

Mutekiya offers a menu which will satisfy both your stomach and soul, including the popular Honmaru X, a rich tonkotsu-based shoyu (soy sauce) ramen with plenty of back fat; and the One Pound Doka-Mori Chashumen, which comes with a mountain of thick-cut chashu roast pork. The restaurant also serves novel ramen varieties like the crab miso noodles, made with crab miso shipped direct from Sakaiminato in Tottori; the carefully devised karamen spicy noodles, and the mabodofu-like mazesoba. Another nice thing about Mutekiya is its large selection of toppings, such as ajitama marinated soft-boiled eggs and fried garlic.

The Ikebukuro Engeijo is one of four theaters in Tokyo which host regular rakugo (traditional comedic storytelling) performances. Established in 1951, the current building was rebuilt in 1993. The museum building, a symbol of the area, was built by American missionary John Moody McCaleb in 1907 to serve as his home. It is the oldest modern-style Western wooden structure in Toshima City and has been designated a Tangible Cultural Property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
