    A renowned bread bakery located in the Ekoda neighborhood. Inside, the shop is heavily accented with warm woods, and a stone mortar is used to grind the flour used in whole wheat and other hard breads right in the bakery. You can choose from among various breads and ingredients and have the staff make a sandwich for you. The toast set is also a popular menu option. Some 30 varieties of hearty sandwiches ready to take home line the shop's showcase at any given time. The shop was also used as a location in the television version of the hit manga, Kodoku no Gourmet.

The shape of Ringo’s pies was developed and refined over a 30 year period by the renowned Kinotoya pastry shop in Sapporo.

In addition to standard flavors such as sweet bean paste and chestnut, the shop also sells seasonal items.

    This cheese tart specialist is in the central hall, outside the central ticket gate in JR Ikebukuro Station. They sell cheese tarts made with crisp, twice-baked shells and their own original blend of cream cheese mousse. They sell them warm, chilled, frozen and baked for a variety of taste flavors.

    Even though already full after meal, we were attracted by the good smell of the cheese tart. Line up is required but worth to wait to have a bite.

The famous product ""Ikefukuro monaka"" is in the shape of a cute owl, a symbol of Ikebukuro. It uses azuki bean paste from Tokachi, Hokkaido in addition to gyuhi (soft mochi), and it is popular both as a souvenir and to give as a gift. It is known as the place the great local writer Edogawa Ranpo often visited, and it is said that he especially enjoyed the Jouyo Manju which is made by kneading together rice flour, mountain yam and sugar.
