A seven-minute walk from Machiya Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and Keisei Main Line, and the Machiya-ekimae stop on the Toden Arakawa Line. This shop sells tropical fish as well as goldfish, insects, and other creatures, plus everything needed to care for them. Colorful fish swim around the aquariums inside the brightly-lit shop, and just looking around is fun. As the shop carries rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles from Japan and countries around the world, it is also a popular destination for families with children. Particularly recommended are the orange Youkihi medaka ricefish; and the crystal rainbow tetras, a variety of the tetra which is a tropical aquarium standard. During sales, the shop also holds special events such as a goldfish scooping game.

"This is the main store of Kamenoko Tawashi that was established in 1907. The store features western architecture that survived from the fires of war and sells various cleaning tools, including their standard item, ""Kamenoko Tawashi"" (scrubbing brush). Before the tawashi was born, the cleaning tool was something made from bundled straw and rope, was weak and lacked cleaning power. They say that having ""Kamenoko Tawashi,"" with hemp palm fiber wound by wire, changed the history of how things are cleaned. The shape of the popular product has never changed since the company's inception, and people comment that ""Kamenoko lasts three times longer than others."" It has been loved for a long time, not only for wet areas around the home, but also for professional use as recognized by professionals."

"A secondhand shop located a two-minute walk from the Machiyaeki-mae stop on the Toden Arakawa Line. The shop's shelves are covered with exclusive merchandise, vintage items, rare and valuable pieces, old-fashioned dolls, and a wide variety of other goods; it's the kind of place that makes you think, ""well, that looks interesting, I think I'll check it out."" Much of the shop's stock was gathered personally by the owner while traveling to cities across the country; the shop's abundant selection of porcelain is particularly worth a look. Here you can find tableware, snack and fast food toys, antique ceramics, rare products, accessories, and all kinds of other secondhand goods. Note that the shop does not carry electronics or furniture."

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
