This longstanding Japanese confectionary shop was established in 1947. The shopfront display cases are filled with a different selection of seasonal Japanese confections each month - in particular, the shop offers around 10 varieties of namagashi fresh sweets monthly. The shop's most popular baked sweet is its dorayaki - fluffy pancake sandwiches crammed with a sweet paste made with huge Dainagon azuki beans. In addition to other standards such as yokan jellies and monaka wafer cakes, the shop's seasonal higashi dried candies are also popular.

A two-minute walk from Omotesando Station.

Azabu Karinto, with over 50 different flavors of the traditional deep-fried sweet, is in the venerable and uniquely international shopping street Azabu Juban. In addition to the traditional black molasses flavor, they offer spiral karinto, seasonal limited editions, and more to take home for yourself or as souvenirs for friends.

Mamegen is a traditional Japanese bean snack store established in 1865 in Azabu Juban Shopping District. With each generation the selection of bean snacks such as green peas, soya beans, peanuts and more, have grown so much that it's hard to move. Otoboke Mame, bean snacks flavored with seaweed, shredded seaweed and shrimp, are their most popular product. You can eat them as a snack or have them packed as a gift. You can also get Mamegen limited fried rice, red peas and shelled peanuts.

One could read my title, ISO peanut heaven as in search of peanut heaven, and then Mamagen would be your answer. Or, if youre from Hawaii, youre familiar with iso peanuts, which are exactly...

Besides plain, and butter-roasted peanuts, the store offers various flavored bean snacks. They also offer pre-packaged sets, such as beer snack sets, and other combination sets.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
