The grounds are divided into an inner and outer garden and houses the Meiji Memorial Hall which is also used as a wedding ceremony venue. The inner garden, covered with a rich forest, is loved as a precious green area in the city center. In addition to the majestic main hall, the wooden Myojin Torii is the largest Torii in Japan, and the well dug by Kiyomasa Kato himself (Kiyomasa’s Well—Meiji Jingu Inner Garden / entrance fees apply) is a must-see. Spanning Shinjuku City and Minato City the outer garden has a Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery etc. to look at free of charge.

- This theater located in the Honmachi district of Tokyo’s Shibuya City is used for opera and ballet as well as performances of modern performing arts such as contemporary dance and drama. The facility is actually comprised of three theaters: an opera-specific theater with an orchestra pit that can accommodate 120 musicians at full capacity, a mid-sized theater, and a small theater. The backstage tour that is held after performances of opera and ballet is also popular (apply on the day of the performance). Opera glass rentals and a baby-watching service (advance reservation required) are available.

- This complex cultural facility in the Nishi-Shinjuku district of Tokyo’s Shinjuku City is based around the 54-story high-rise building Tokyo Opera City Building and also includes the adjacent New National Theatre Tokyo and a glass space with a total length of 200 meters called Galleria. In addition to a concert hall and an art gallery, it has ample restaurants including the Sky Restaurant where guests can enjoy a view 230 meters above the ground. There are also many apparel shops and stores offering lifestyle services. The free lunchtime concert held every month is quite popular.

- The main government building of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office in Nishi Shinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo. It is mainly composed of the Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.1, famous for its twin towers, the Tokyo Metropolitan Main building No.2, the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, and Tokyo Metropolitan Plaza. The First Government Building is a skyscraper with a height of 243 meters and the free observation deck on the 45th floor is popular as a view spot that overlooks the city of Tokyo. The building also contains the Tokyo Tourist Information Center and a nationwide tourism PR section. You can also visit the section of Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly building, the Special Committee room No. 15 (special budget), and the city council PR corner.

- A public park located in Kabuki-cho, Shinjuku City, Tokyo across from Ohkubo Hospital. The park is divided into two areas-a general use area and a sports area. The sports area is equipped with a futsal court and a basketball court. The entire park is also sometimes used to host events such as concerts and performances.

- This garden, straddling Shinjuku and Shibuya wards has 58.3 hectares in size and a circumference of 3.5 kilometers. It was created as the Imperial garden in 1906 on the site of the residence that belonged to the Naito family, the feudal lord of Takato in Shinshu region and opened to the public after World WarⅡ. Famous as a modern western-style garden, it blends French Formal Garden, English Landscape Garden, and Japanese Traditional Garden and visitors can enjoy beautiful scenery with about 10,000 trees each season. The garden was selected as one of the top 100 spots in Japan to see cherry blossoms, and from early February to late April, visitors enjoy about 65 varieties of cherry blossom of over 1,100 cherry trees.

- This fashion building located near the east exit of Shinjuku Station is home to many brand shops targeting young women. With a total of nine floors including two basement floors and seven floors above ground, it features a range of stores covering apparel, miscellaneous goods, and cosmetics, as well as cafes, restaurants, and HMV. On the seventh floor is Studio Alta, which is well-known from the live television program “Waratte Iitomo” (It’s Ok to Laugh), and since the studio closed the space is now used as a theater. The area below the large television screen on the front of the building is popular as a meeting place.
