  • Tokyu Department Store Shibuya Main Store

    Tokyo Shibuya-ku Dougenzaka 2-24-1
The flagship store of the chain of department stores operated by the Tokyu Group. The store is located at the 2 Chome Dogenzaka intersection. A free shuttle bus operates between the Shibuya Main Store and the Tokyu Department Store Toyoko Store located next to Shibuya Station. The store's customers are primarily local residents living in the surrounding exclusive residential areas. Because of this, the store is characterized by a more subdued atmosphere compared with the hustle and bustle near Shibuya Station. Bunkamura, a museum and commercial facility, was built next door in 1989. Since that time, the Shibuya Main Store has functioned together with Bunkamura as a large-scale commercial complex and shopping facility.

Visited this store about 4 times during the trip because my aunt digs supermarkets and malls when she travels. There are many entrances to the store from the subway so even if I miss one, there’s...

Visitors can find unique and highly individual accessories on the amusement park-themed third floor. The fifth floor, designed to look like a palace by architect Yuko Nagayama, is arrayed with attractive items that look almost like pieces in an art museum.

It has western and southern wings and is connected by the first basement floor to Shibuya Mark City and Toyoko Norengai. 時間の関係上、一階しか行けませんでした。 一階にはお花屋さんや雑貨屋さんや化粧品売り場がありました。お店とお店の間の通路など、かなり混雑していました。土曜日だったからかもしれませんが、大賑わいでした。

Tokyo Areas

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
