This venerable department store is located in Nihonbashi, Chuo City, Tokyo. It got its start in the Edo Period as Echigoya, a dry goods store that became popular with the common people for its revolutionary business methods. In 1904, it became Japan's first department store. Comprised of the Main Building and the New Building, the store offers a wide range of high-quality items including fashion, household goods, books, jewelry, and more. It is also famous as the originator of kid's menus in Japan. The entrance to the main building features a lion statue that serves as the store's symbol.

    Tokyo Chuou-ku Ginza 4-5-11
A long-standing shopping mall as a landmark of Ginza standing on the Ginza 4-chome intersection. The mall’s seasonal window displays are so attractive, a not insignificant number of people come just to photograph them. Inside, shoppers can find watches, jewelry, men’s and women’s apparel, and interior decorations. Everything on offer has been uniquely created to meet customer needs or is a carefully selected item from venerable producers in Japan and around the world. Free exhibitions of ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, photography, and other art are held in the Wako Hall on the sixth floor.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
