    This venerable department store is located in Nihonbashi, Chuo City, Tokyo. It got its start in the Edo Period as Echigoya, a dry goods store that became popular with the common people for its revolutionary business methods. In 1904, it became Japan's first department store. Comprised of the Main Building and the New Building, the store offers a wide range of high-quality items including fashion, household goods, books, jewelry, and more. It is also famous as the originator of kid's menus in Japan. The entrance to the main building features a lion statue that serves as the store's symbol.

    This department store directly connected to JR Ikebukuro Station’s West Exit opened in 1962 as the Terminal Department Store and boasts the largest sales space in the Kanto region. With a total of 18 floors including two underground floors and 16 floors above ground, it features shops covering fashion, lifestyle accessories, and toys, and also includes gourmet food, restaurants, a Uniqlo and a fitness studio. One characteristic is that each floor is divided up into 11 avenues. The section from the 11th floor to the 15th floor is full of restaurants, and the five floors have an assortment of cuisines from all over the world.

It is a popular shopping spot for nearby office workers and tourists alike with a convenient location directly connected to the station. In addition to the diverse array of shops offering fashion and lifestyle goods, there are gourmet restaurants and even a Tokyu Hands branch. The sixth floor zone known as Lib Tokyo is particularly garnering attention for its fusion of merchandise, a cafe and books.

    浅草まで行かなくても手にはいるのが嬉しい反面、いくつも食べられてしまうのが怖いです。帰りの新幹線の中で美味しくいただきました。

Inside, shoppers can find watches, jewelry, men’s and women’s apparel, and interior decorations. Everything on offer has been uniquely created to meet customer needs or is a carefully selected item from venerable producers in Japan and around the world. Free exhibitions of ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, photography, and other art are held in the Wako Hall on the sixth floor.

    With its roots in the Echigoya dry-goods store founded in 1673 this opened as the flagship store for department store Mitsukoshi in 1930. With 16 floors altogether including four basement floors and 12 floors above ground, it features a diverse range of shops including more than 200 ladies’ fashion brands and the largest cosmetics floor in the Ginza area, as well as specialty shops carrying men’s items, foodstuffs, and sweets. The restaurant floor is also popular for allowing diners to enjoy a wide range of cuisines including Japanese, Western, Chinese and ethnic dishes. It is directly accessible from Tokyo Metro’s Ginza Station.

    一時、日本から撤退していたようです。 現座、日本で購入できるのはこちらだけのようです。 ケーキ屋だと思っていたのですが、ショコラ屋だったようです。 なので、スペシャリテのフィユ ドトンヌはすばらしいです。 見た目も奇抜ですが、パリパリのチョコでコーティングされたなかには、さっくりほろほろのメレンゲと、ショコラケーキ メレンゲもチョコケーキも苦手な私が美味しくいただけたほどです。

    This long-established department store founded in 1831 in Kyoto began by selling secondhand clothing and cotton goods, and opened its Tokyo store in 1900. After that it relocated to a new building in Nihombashi in 1933, which is the present location. The store features a full range of fashion, interior goods, gourmet foods, and restaurants. In particular, the Takashimaya Watch Maison timepiece corner spanning the first and second floors handles more than 80 brands and boasts the world’s largest assortment. The building which still retains its appearance from the early Showa period is the first department store that has been designated an Important Cultural Property. The closest station is Nihombashi Station.

    暑い日だったのでさっぱりしたく、こちらでジュースを購入。 ここの良いところは、ハーフ&ハーフがある所。 半分ずつ飲めるんです、カップが二つに分かれています。 あれもこれも飲みたくなる私にとって、かなり嬉しかった。

One of several Marui locations in Shinjuku, Shinjuku Marui Honkan is particularly targeted towards women customers and hosts a variety of shops dedicated to women’s fashion. The facility also has a café space which visitors can try by to take a break in between shopping. A lush and verdant English garden on the roof is a popular place for people to relax and enjoy seasonal flowers.

    This was a fun and trendy outpost of the large Marui Department Store chain in Tokyo. There are fashion and home goods, and fun little places to eat.

Café Troisgros, a fashionable establishment and winner of three Michelin stars, can be found on the eighth floor.

    The flagship store of the chain of department stores operated by the Tokyu Group. The store is located at the 2 Chome Dogenzaka intersection. A free shuttle bus operates between the Shibuya Main Store and the Tokyu Department Store Toyoko Store located next to Shibuya Station. The store's customers are primarily local residents living in the surrounding exclusive residential areas. Because of this, the store is characterized by a more subdued atmosphere compared with the hustle and bustle near Shibuya Station. Bunkamura, a museum and commercial facility, was built next door in 1989. Since that time, the Shibuya Main Store has functioned together with Bunkamura as a large-scale commercial complex and shopping facility.

    A department store located just a four-minute walk from Shibuya Station’s Hachiko Exit. As befits Shibuya, an area which attracts large numbers of young people, Shibuya Marui hosts a variety of fashion and lifestyle good shops as well as restaurants aimed at people in their teens and 20s. Popular sweet and snack shops such as the first Butter Popcorn in Shibuya and Glabar, a granola specialty shop, can be found on the first floor. Numerous anime-related events are held in the facility and Shibuya Marui also houses shops dedicated to popular anime such as the One Piece Mugiwara Store, the largest official One Piece merchandise shop in the world.

    渋谷駅から徒歩数分、原宿方面に歩いたところにあります。結構小さいデパートです。ふらっと入ったのですがレディースの店が多かったので、何も買わずに出てきました。

    The Annex of Shinjuku Marui facing Shinjuku-dori Street traveling in the direction of Yotsuya from the Shinjuku 3-Chome Intersection. The mall is adjoined by Shinjuku Wald 9, a large-scale cineplex which gained attention for installing digital projection facilities. Since this cineplex is located a little further from Shinjuku Station, it is often less packed and here customers can enjoy a more comfortable movie experience. The cineplex and mall also hold movie tie-in and anime events and are a popular destination for high school and university students. In addition, the mall has a restaurant floor featuring several well-known dining establishments, making it a convenient place for meet-ups and eating out.

    Originally we visited Marui Annex to find a particular store, but it turns out the store has closed down and Surugaya now occupies an entire floor! Its one of the better Surugaya stores I visited...

The interior of the building carries an art and design theme, and each floor was designed in collaboration with world class artists and designers. Modeled after a theme park, palace, museum, and more, each floor hosts a variety of items for women such as apparel, cosmetics, and handcrafts. Visitors can find unique and highly individual accessories on the amusement park-themed third floor. The fifth floor, designed to look like a palace by architect Yuko Nagayama, is arrayed with attractive items that look almost like pieces in an art museum.

It also houses Ninben, the veteran katsuobushi dried bonito shop, and a shop run by the Hakkaisan sake brewery.

    This is one of the separate buildings of the Isetan Shinjuku Store located in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo’s Shinjuku City, and is on the western side of the Men’s-Kan building. It’s 14-odd shops are mainly restaurants, and there is an abundance of variety including a Spanish restaurant which has a flamenco show featuring actual Spanish dancers, a famous tempura shop from Ginza, and a restaurant for western cuisine overseen by a traditional French chef. There are shops that are open until 11pm so guests can take their time to enjoy a meal after shopping or finishing work.

    This is the Machida store of the department store belonging to the Odakyu Group, and reopened after undergoing large-scale renovations for the first time in 13 years in March 2019. The renovations were meant to increase shops that attract an age group younger than previous customers, mainly new families in their 30s and 40s. The third floor capitalizes on its direct connection to the Odakyu platform with a variety of products and shops to visit on the way home from work, while the second floor, connected to the ticket gates, is full of lifestyle and miscellaneous goods shops that are easy to stop by.

    小田急線町田駅の百貨店口を出るとすぐの所あります。 地下1階〜5階までは百貨店でやはり品物は高く感じます。 ただし新宿のように激混みでないので、品揃えが豊富なので町田で済ませるのもアリだと思います。 新宿と違って無印やビックカメラが付いているのは嬉しいですね。

The facility can be easily used in a variety of ways, from taking a break from shopping to eating lunch and buying gifts when visiting clients. There are also many 24-hour partner parking lots for easy convenience.
