The lush Japanese garden is a strolling-style garden built around a central pond, and here visitors can take in the beauty of the seasons. In the Genshinan teahouse, you can experience Japanese culture; the park also has a playground and a place for fishing. In the zoo area, you can see red pandas, prairie dogs, birds such as the rhinoceros hornbill, turtles, iguanas, and other animals, and also pet rabbits and guinea pigs.

    These botanical gardens in Tokyo’s Chofu City are located directly adjacent to Jindaiji Temple. They opened in 1961 as a nursery to cultivate Tokyo’s roadside trees and other plants. Although it is a famous place for plum and cherry blossoms, visitors can also enjoy a variety of flowers and trees throughout the year, such as a rose garden, azaleas featuring 280 varieties and 12,000 plants, and a large greenhouse where visitors can view approximately 1,300 types of plants. The facility consists of areas open to the general public as well as non-public areas occupied by research facilities; visitors may freely visit the public areas. A variety of plants bloom in the public areas, including rare plants native to the Ogasawara Islands, and tropical plants. Tropical fruit trees and other plants grown on the Ogasawara Islands are displayed in an exhibition greenhouse, and these may be freely viewed by visitors. In the facility's palm tree garden, you can see palm trees from around the world. The exhibition garden areas have walking paths, and you can take an enjoyable stroll while viewing tropical plants cultivated on a mountainside. An observatory at the top of the mountain provides a sweeping view of Futami Bay.

Some of the garden's many highlights include an estate which belonged to the Ii, the family which produced chief minister Ii Naosuke; over 120 flowering dogwoods which were gifted as a sign of friendship by the United States of America; and a clock tower which symbolizes the separation of the powers of the three branches of government.
