"Kiyomizu-dera Temple is located near Otowa no Mori Park in Kamone, Misaki-cho, in the city of Isumi. It has long history, having been built in 807 by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. Its principal votive figure is the Thousand-Armed Kannon, and this temple is the 32nd of the 33 places sacred to the bodhisattva Kannon in Bando (the old name for the Kanto Region). Within the precincts are sculptures of the 47 samurai of the Ako domain whose plot to avenge their lord was immortalized in the play ""Chushingura."""

Tanjoji Temple was built in 1276 in the present-day Kominato area of the city of Kamogawa, the birthplace of Nichiren, the founder of Nichiren Buddhism. It was moved to its present location after an earthquake in 1703. In 1758, a fire destroyed all the temple buildings except Niomon Gate. This surviving structure has been designated a Prefectural Tangible Cultural Property. On February 16 of each year, a festival called Shuso Goko Tan-e is held to commemorate Nichiren's birthday. A portable shrine with an image of Nichiren as a child is carried around in a procession called O-Neri Gyoretsu.

This is the Buddhist temple of the Nichiren sect built in the place where Nichiren was born. This is a sacred place located in Kominato, in Southern Chiba, facing the Pacific Ocean. Nichiren was born...

    Chiba Pref. Kamogawashi Hiroba 1413
This temple is in Hiroba, Kamogawa City. It was built to mourn two of Nichiren's disciples who lost their lives at one of the four great persecutions of Nichiren believers due to assaults from the estate head, TojoKagenobu at the sacred Komatsubara persecution site. The over 1000-year-old tree, Koshinnomaki, can be seen here. It is from this tree that Kishimojin, the goddess of childbirth, was said to descend to save Nichiren during the persecution.

    Chiba Pref. Kamogawashi Kiyosumi 322-1
"Seichoji is an ancient temple near the summit of Mt. Kiyosumi, said to have been founded by a priest called Fushigi Hoshi in 771. It is known as the temple where Nichiren Shonin, founder of the Nichirensect of Buddhism, first became a monk, established his teachings, and founded his sect. In 1949, it came under the direct control of the Nichirensect and is now Daihonzan Head Temple of Nichirensect. A gigantic so-called ""thousand-year cedar tree"" stands on the temple grounds, and it has long been venerated as a sacred tree, and in 1924, it was designated a National Natural Monument under the name of ""The Great Cedar of Kiyosumi."""

    Chiba Isumi-shi Ohara 10676
The temple is a Tendai Sect temple with the principal image of Fudo Myoo, which is said to have originated when a fisherman's wife was gathering seaweed on the beach and found a statue of Fudo Myoo under the sea, which she enshrined in a shrine. The thatched-roof Fudo Hall was once designated as a former national treasure and has been repaired at government expense.

Chiba Areas

The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
