Gunma Pref. Takasakishi Takamatsuchou In the castle park
These castle ruins are located approximately 15 minutes on foot from the JR Takasaki Station, or alternatively, five minutes by bus. They are the remains of Minowa Castle, built in 1598 by Ii Naomasa, by command of Tokugawa Ieyasu. At the time of its building, the castle covered a vast area, with the bailey alone covering over 165 square kilometers. However, presently, only the three earthen walls and moat, tower and eastern gate remain. The tower was used to store weapons and food and is the only remaining castle structure to remain standing in the prefecture. The surrounding area, including the castle ruins is maintained as a castle ruins park, and is a popular cherry viewing spot. The cherry blossoms are lit up in the evening.

This castle is a 10 min walk from the Takasaki station. Surrounded by buildings and an auditorium the castle is situated in the middle of a manicured garden (are there any unkempt gardens in Japan...

This ropeway extends from Higashi-ogawa, Katashina Village, Tone County to a 2,000-meter-high point on Mt. Nikko-Shirane. It is 2,500 meters long in total and has a 600-meter difference in elevation, and it takes about 15 minutes to cross one way. In addition, the limited-time “ropeway night cruise” and “sunset cruise” offer wonderful views of the night sky. The valuable “family pack” includes two adult tickets and one elementary school children’s ticket, and there’s also a “super-value pack” that includes entry to a hot spring.

    このロープウェイがあるおかげで登山が楽になります。登山しない人もロープウェイの上の景色は特別。登山のために、もう少し早い時間からロープウェイが動くといいな、とは思う。

This farmers market opened in 2009 is located an 18-minute/10 kilometer drive from the Shibukawa-Ikaho interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway via Prefectural Route 33. In addition to fresh picked vegetables, the market's diverse selection includes Mizusawa udon noodles, Ikaho Onsen manju buns, and fresh flowers. Of particular note is the market which sells local products straight from the producers. Selling organic vegetables, specially cultivated vegetables, and mineral-rich vegetables, all of the vegetables reassuringly bear the name of the producer and production area. Yukian, the market's restaurant, serves spicy, flavorful curry udon noodles.

"Lake Usui is a man-made lake that was created when the confluence of the Nakao River and the Usui River was dammed by the construction of the Sakamoto Dam; it is located around 10 minutes' drive from Yokokawa Station on the JR Shinetsu Line. The lake is surrounded by state-owned forest, and presents a beautiful appearance at any time of year; it is particularly spectacular in autumn, when the autumn foliage of the surrounding trees is reflected in the Lake. There is a roughly 1.2 kilometer long footpath around the lake, which takes approximately 20 minutes to walk round. Lake Usui is situated part-way along the ""Apt Road,"" a hiking path that follows the route of a disused railway line. The bright red bridge that crosses the Lake was constructed as an arched bridge."

This Shinto shrine deifies Sugawara no Michizane. It's one of the five great Tenjin shrines of the Kanto area. People worshiped there for its protective powers around 1187 when Kiryu clan controlled the surrounding area, but it became Kiryu Tenmangu Shrine around 1350 when the god from Kyoto's Kitano Tenmangu Shrine was merged with it. Sugawara no Michizane is a god of scholarship, and as there are many schools in the area, the grounds fill with students who come to pray. It is also known as god of traffic safety and secure travel. The shrine is designated as a Gunma Prefecture Important Cultural Property.

They are Honoikazuchi no Okami, Oikazuchi no Okami and Wakeikazuchi no Okami. It is the head Raiden shrine of the Kanto area. It is said that Prince Shotoku establishing a shrine in the small island of Inara Swamp, in the time of Empress Suiko, was how this Raiden Shrine came to be. The main shrine has a single pillar standing in the very center with doors that open either side. This mysterious construction can only be seen in seven places in the whole of Japan, so the main shrine was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the prefecture. The highlight of the shrine is the carving made by Tsunehachi Ishihara, the 10th generation maser of Jingoro Hidari. It is said to be the best architectural sculpture masterpiece of the Edo Period.
