    This day-trip hot spring is in the Sarugakyo onsen area, surrounded by the abundant nature. It is located approximately 20 minutes from the Kan’etsu Expressway Tsukiyono Interchange, along National Route 17. It has Sato no Yu, an outdoor bath surrounded by a rock garden and Tanabata no Yu, a stone-pitched western-style bath, from both of which, visitors can enjoy the natural views of Lake Akaya and the star-filled sky. The private hot spring and the sauna bags are also recommended. The calcium sodium sulfate spring water is drawn directly from the source and free flowing. It is said to be effective for nerve pain and sensitivity to cold, etc. There are also a variety of activities, including barbequing and kayaking experiences.

    This direst sales outlet and restaurant is located along National Route 353 in Nakanojo Town, and was established to tell people how delicious Tamagoya’s eggs are. The famous Nakanojo Chockie baked confectionaries are made with eggs from affiliated farms located at the foot of Mt. Haruna and flour and milk produced in Gunma Prefecture. The outlet mainly sells its own 100% additive-free fresh confectionaries and baked confectionaries, as well as freshly laid eggs, local agricultural produce and crafts produced by affiliated companies. The restaurant’s Tamagoya Omelet Rice is very popular.

    This lake walk is located approximately 10 minutes from Minakami Interchange. There are extremely safe kayaks available for use by men and women of any level of experience to enjoy the outdoor canoe sports here. Tours of the five dam lakes of Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture are held according to the season and weather, mainly at Lake Okutone and Lake Naramata. From the middle of the lakes, visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms in the spring, fresh green leaves in the summer and colorful autumn leaves in the late autumn.     This restaurant is located five minutes’ walk from Nishi-Koizumi Station. It was founded 24 years ago and was the first Brazilian restaurant in Oizumi Town. This restaurant’s menu is centered on its traditional Brazilian Churrasco. Their recommended dishes are the Espeton de bife ancho, which is grilled beef rib steak skewers, and the Costello de Boi made which is beef ribs. The restaurant’s Espeton de Picanha which is beef rump on skewers is a very popular dish even in Brazil. It is the perfect restaurant for people who want to experience different types of Brazilian cuisine and ways of eating, for people who want to try Brazilian food for the first time, and for people who want to learn about Brazil.

    This ski resort is in an excellent area which overlooks the mountain range of Joetsu boundary area. It is located approximately 40 minutes from the Kan’etsu Expressway Minakami Interchange, via National Route 293, heading towards Yu no Koya. More than half of the courses are suitable for beginner and intermediate-level skiers, so it is recommended for first-time skiers. There are, of course, also courses which advanced-level skiers will find enjoyable, and it is also possible to snowboard here. There is a kids’ park where children can enjoy playing with sleds, so even small children can safely enjoy playing in the snow. The ski resort is located adjacent to Hotel Sunbird, and all of the courses are designed conveniently to end in front of the hotel.

    These castle ruins are located in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, at an altitude of 239 meters on Mt. Kanayama. It has been selected as one of the top 100 famous castles in Japan. The lord of this castle was Iwamatsu Nitta, Kise, Yura and Odawara Hojo. It was built in 1469 and abandoned in 1590. Although it is one of the mountain castles that made use of the natural topography, it had stone walls and much of the castle was stone paved. The history of this castle overturned the theory that mountain castles in the Kanto region did not have typical stone walls. At the foot of the mountain, there is a guidance facility for the historical Kanayama castle ruins and also a Kanayama area castle exchange center.

    These castle ruins are located approximately 15 minutes on foot from the JR Takasaki Station, or alternatively, five minutes by bus. They are the remains of Minowa Castle, built in 1598 by Ii Naomasa, by command of Tokugawa Ieyasu. At the time of its building, the castle covered a vast area, with the bailey alone covering over 165 square kilometers. However, presently, only the three earthen walls and moat, tower and eastern gate remain. The tower was used to store weapons and food and is the only remaining castle structure to remain standing in the prefecture. The surrounding area, including the castle ruins is maintained as a castle ruins park, and is a popular cherry viewing spot. The cherry blossoms are lit up in the evening.

    This walkway starting near the Yokokawa Station in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture, was once the track used by the Abt-type train as part of the former Shin-Etsu line. Visitors can enjoy hiking along the ruins of the railway that travelled along the Usui Pass, a difficult area for railroad transportation. The old brick construction en route is the Maruyama substation, registered as a National Important Cultural Asset. The path passes through five tunnels including Usui Toge no Mori Park Exchange Building, Toge no Yu, Usui First Tunnel, and then onto a grand bridge with four arches. While enjoying the view of Lake Usui seen from the Abt railroad, visitors can get a sense for the railway scene of the Meiji and Showa periods.

    These famous castle ruins are located approximately 30 minutes from the Kan’etsu Expressway Takasaki Interchange and Maebashi Interchange. Minowa castle was built in the Sengoku Period by Nagano Narimasa. It was known as an impregnable castle that prevented Takeda Shingen’s attacks numerous times but was abandoned in the time of Ii Naomasa. The ruins of the castle gate, wall and drainage system remain, and many are unchanged from when the castle was governed by Ii Naomasa. It was designated as a national Historic Site in 1987 and selected as one of Japan’s top 100 castles. There is a battle event every year in October, during the Minowa Castle Festival, where the warriors form two groups, Takeda side and Nagano side, which try to attack and defend the castle.

    This is a prefectural park of about 1,290 hectares in size, at the top of Mt. Akagi surrounded by nature, approximately 60 minutes from the Akagi Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway. The facility displays information on the current state and structure of Mt. Akagi through its animals, plants and geological features. In addition to exhibitions on the history and beautiful nature of Mt. Akagi, there is also a rest house, a tourist information office, and trekking maps are available to purchase. Visitors can use it as a base for sightseeing and hiking in the region. The facility is barrier free and suitable for wheelchairs.

There are two types of outdoor bath available, the Kaze no Yu, featuring a rock garden overflowing with rustic beauty, and the Kou no Yu, which is surrounded by different flowers, depending on the season, as well as the bed-rock bath, which uses almandine from Katashina Village. It is a simple alkaline hot spring and is said to be effective for nerve pain, muscle pain and recovery from fatigue, etc. There is also a popular restaurant called Hanasaki, which serves ginger roast Joetsu pork and direct sale outlets, which sell products directly from the farms.

    This experience facility is located along Prefectural Route 55, at the end of Hanamomo Road, in Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture. Visitors can appreciate various seasonal flowers such as Renge Azalea in the spring, Fuji Bakama in the summer, and herbs such as Hellebore and Dutch Sedum until mid-November. There are experience classes for dry flower wreath making and herbarium making, where participants can make their own original pieces. There is also a restaurant with a high ceiling and a clear sense of openness, where visitors can enjoy the millet-rice and Kuni curry or the countryside pasta made with a generous amount of mountain herbs.

    This campsite is located in the 2,000-meter-high mountains, at an altitude of 1,500 meters, on the lakeside of Lake Nozori, dam lake. There are 39 bungalows (4 people), each 5 tatami mats in size (of which 3 are pet friendly), 2 bungalows (8 people), each 11 tatami mats in size with a loft and deck, and also an open tent camping area for free. Day camping is also possible. A reservation is required for both day and night camping. In addition to 24-hour coin-operated showers and laundry, there is also rental of a gymnasium available, which is unusual for a campsite.

    This distinguished temple is located on Mt. Kashozan, Gunma Prefecture. It was founded in 848, and bestowed with a Goshuin and rights to a hundred thousand koku (of rice). It is said that a tengu mask was left after monk chuho made a vow to stay at this mountain forevermore as a spiritual being and he rose to heaven. The custom to dedicate a tengu mask derives from this legend. The best Tengu mask in Japan was enshrined in Chuhodo in 1939 to pray for victory in the war, and again in 1970, this time to pray for traffic safety to the Great Tengu. Once every 10 years, a grand ceremony is held for people to worship the Shintai, which contains the spirit of the deity.
