    This shrine to the 2,486-meter-high sacred mountain Mt. Futaara is also the tutelary shrine of Nikko. The temple's massive precinct covers some 3,400 hectares that includes the Nikko Mountains, which are part of Nikko National Park, as well as the Kegon Falls, the descending Irohazaka route, and Shinkyo Bridge, an important cultural asset.

    This ancient shrine is in middle of city, and is pretty peaceful as well. Need to climb a few stairs to reach the top, isnt much of a problem for anyone with average health. The compound is also...

    "This Shinto shrine is dedicated to late Edo period Confucian scholar Gamo Kunpei. The shrine's grounds sprawl north of the Tochigi Prefecture Government Building, and monuments commemorating Gamo Kunpei's achievements and his posthumous conferral of rank, as well as a seated statue of the scholar can be found inside their bounds. Gamo Kunpei is believed to be a descendent of Aizu Domain lord Gamo Ujisato and wrote the ""Sanryoshi,"" which recorded his research into imperial tombs across the country. Gamo Kunpei was famously the first person to use the term ""keyhole-shaped tumulus."" Each year in April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the shrine holds a ritual children's sumo tournament; meanwhile, in August on the night of the 15th day of the eight-lunar month, the shrine holds a moon-viewing event."

    This shrine, on the peak of Mt. Torinoko, is built astride the border of Ibaraki and Tochigi Prefectures and is known as the Shinto Shrine of the Owl. When arriving at the top of the stone stairs, you can see a cute but enormous owl statue, which is considered to be a power spot for good luck and monetary fortune. The central pillar supporting the great owl is said to bring monetary fortune, while the surrounding four other pillars is to ward off calamities and bad luck.

    "This Shinto shrine is located at the top of 458-meter high Mt. Haguro towering on the western side of Imazato-cho, Utsunomiya City, Kawachi County, Tochigi Prefecture. There are various theories about the origin of the shrine, but in general it is believed to have been founded sometime during the Kohei era (1058-1065). The shrine is dedicated to Ukanomitama and has been a destination for worshippers since ancient times. Today, it is nicknamed ""Ohaguro-sama."""

    毎年、春に伺わせて頂いています。近くには本田技研工業の施設などが有り、春には桜の道が続いていてとても良い感じです。バイクで行き御守りなど購入すると缶コーヒーが貰えます。土日祝日は混んで居るので平日がお勧めです。

    お参りの後に、社務所で御朱印をいただきたく寄りましたが、人手が、足りないのか、誰もいらっしゃるませんでした。他にも御朱印待ちの人たちがいたのですが、15分以上待ちぼうけ。案内表示があればと思いました。

    宇都宮駅西口から徒歩15分。駐車場は3台ぶんくらいありますが、狭いです。 以前はだいぶ傷んでいたみたいですが、改修して新しくなりました。
