This museum is at the site of a former quarry in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. Apart from introducing guests to the history of Oya stone mining and its techniques, it displays tools used for hand excavation between Japan’s feudal era and the 1950s in its exhibition hall. At a depth of 30 meters, the quarry spans a vast 20 thousand square meters, producing a mysterious world like an underground temple or the inside of a pyramid. It is also used as a location for shooting films and television dramas, as well as a concert venue.

We decided to go here because it was very different from the normal touristy attractions. But let me tell you it didn’t disappoint the way it is set up is amazing. Lights set in such a way to enhance...

"This craft hall is located near Ryumon Waterfall, said to be the home of a dragon. The hall's terrace and observatory offer a sweeping view of the fall. The hall contains dragon-themed exhibits and also introduces local folk tales and legends via animated movies, and visitors can come in contact with stories handed down in the Karasuyama area as well as the legend of the dragon of Ryumon Waterfall. It is said you will find love and experience increased luck if you pray to the dragon figure in the hall's ""dragon cave."" The hall is a five-minute walk from Taki Station. The hall also sells local specialty prodcuts."

I love this waterfall I also like the Coke Premium that was sold in the shop its about 330 yen. I was enjoying myself with the Dragon and the fall was really peaceful.

Records state this ancient Buddhist temple was established in 822. Located halfway up Mt. Tage on the northwest side of Utsunomiya City, the temple's principal object of worship is a statue of Acala, who is viewed as an avatar of Vairocana. The temple holds a fire walking festival, usually on the third Sunday in May, which involves the creation of a massive homa consecrated fire to pray for protection from misfortune, better luck, and sound health. Participation is not limited to adherents of Shugendo ascetic practices, and members of the general public can also participate for free. Utsunomiya is said to be a mecca for cycling, and is the location of the Japan Cup Cycle Road Race, the biggest bicycle race in Asia. In turn, this temple is famous for holding a special ceremony before the race for teams who request it to pray for their safety.

"This Shinto shrine is dedicated to late Edo period Confucian scholar Gamo Kunpei. The shrine's grounds sprawl north of the Tochigi Prefecture Government Building, and monuments commemorating Gamo Kunpei's achievements and his posthumous conferral of rank, as well as a seated statue of the scholar can be found inside their bounds. Gamo Kunpei is believed to be a descendent of Aizu Domain lord Gamo Ujisato and wrote the ""Sanryoshi,"" which recorded his research into imperial tombs across the country. Gamo Kunpei was famously the first person to use the term ""keyhole-shaped tumulus."" Each year in April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the shrine holds a ritual children's sumo tournament; meanwhile, in August on the night of the 15th day of the eight-lunar month, the shrine holds a moon-viewing event."

This ancient Soto Buddhist temple sprawls just to the north of the Tochigi Prefecture Government Building. The temple's vast, 50 thousand square meter grounds enshrine a statue of Kannon which is the 33rd stop on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. Founded in the Muromachi period, the temple's history stretches back some 550 years. The temple is also famous for its weeping cherry which is over 350 years old. An unending stream of local residents comes to see the ancient tree when it blooms in early April. The tree has also been selected for inclusion in the Tochigi 100 Famous Trees list and has been designated a Natural Monument by the prefecture.
