    This zoo in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture has a theme of “Nature, Animals, and Kids.” It raises about 90 animal species, including lions, giraffes, and Asian elephants. You can see the animals up close and feed and pet some of the smaller ones. Pony rides are popular with the kids. There is also an amusement park on the grounds, a pool that’s open in summer, and a winter fishing pond. A visit provides a day of fun for the whole family.

    It is not so big zoo. But you can enjoy water some animals near. You can see white lions and white tigers both. ホワイトライオンとホワイトタイガーが両方観られる数少ない動物園です。 宇都宮駅からバスで30分程度で行くことができます。

Their collection brings together modern art, posters, and designer furniture that focus on the themes of Art and the Region, Art and Life, and Art and the Environment. They also display works of art from local Utsunomiya artists. The museum holds special exhibitions and art related workshops as well as nature viewing excursions into Utsunomiya's Cultural Forest.

    マグリットの「大家族」を見たくて訪れた。完全な抽象絵画は好きではないが、マグリットのように部分、部分はリアリズムなのに全体のテーマが謎めいている絵は何となく惹かれる。コレクション展では、ほかにも何点かいい作品があった。企画展の方は「リヒテンシュタインの至宝展」を開催していたが、こちらは肖像画や宗教画が多く、今ひとつ好きにはなれなかった。

    An art museum in Nasu County, Tochigi Prefecture. Managed by Iwamura Kazuo, author of beloved picture books such as the 14 Little Mice series and the Little Squirrel series, the exhibits center around the themes of picture books and nature. Inside the museum you'll find three exhibition spaces along with a small hall, a reading corner, and a shop which sells picture books and goods. In the tea room you can enjoy handmade cakes while passing the time away.

    子どもたちに読み聞かせを行っていた本の著者の美術館に行ってきました。豊かな自然の中にある、綺麗な美術館でした。いわむらかずお先生がちょうどいらして、レストランにて先生がスタッフの方々と談笑される姿をしばらく眺める事もできました。広く静かなスペースに絵や本が展示されていて、じっくりと楽しむ事ができます。また、レストランにて軽食を頂きました。心癒される環境だと思います。

    This museum in Utsunomiya City is located in Tochigi Central Park and collects, preserves, and researches materials relating to Tochigi's nature and culture. Their permanent exhibits look at Tochigi's history from the geological age to present times as well as introduce you to the Nikko region's insects, flora, and fauna. There are also special exhibitions on a variety of subjects.

    宇都宮駅から路線バスで大谷資料館に行き、そぬ帰りで立ち寄りました。開館50周年を記念して過去の企画展覧会など作品を展示した『題名のない展覧会』が開催されていました。様々作品が展示されていて良かったです◯

    The museum exhibits approximately 4,200 works by Hiroshige Utagawa and Ukiyoe prints of the Utagawa school, including Meiji prints by Seichika Kobayashi, works by Kiyoo Kawamura, Ukiyoe prints and crafts. The building was designed by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma.

    This museum features permanent exhibits about the Yamaage Matsuri of Karasuyama, UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and a National Important Intangible Cultural Heritage. In the exhibit hall, visitors can see the actual oyatai (building-shaped stage decoration) used in the festival's kabuki performances. The museum's popular miniature theater recreates an actualstage and the townscape in which it took place in 1/5 scale.

    監視人の女性たちは殆どがアルバイトですが、鑑賞している最中の目線がキツイ。まるで、罪悪人を見る視線で、落ち着いて鑑賞できない。せっかく隣の県から訪ねたのに、おもてなしができていない。最後には、男性職員が、2人、出口から入ってきて、ジロリと一喝、とっても感じ悪ーという、なんて日だ！

    This art museum was founded in 1992 with the donation of some 2,000 works of art from Katsusaburo Hasegawa (1912-2001), a Kanuma City native who was a student of Kawakami Sumio. The museum was built with fukaiwa stone quarried in Kanuma. Its exterior, which resembles the western-style buildings of the Meiji period, was designed based on one of Kawakami's woodblock prints. Its interior was finished with generous amounts of wood. The museum rotates its exhibits four times per year, allowing visitors to explore a variety of different themes.

    "This museum dedicated to fairy-themed art is located on the east side of the Nikko Futarasan-Jinja shrine. On the fifth floor of Utsunomiya Omotesando Square, the museum displays fairy-inspired ceramics and paintings. The beautiful stained-glass artwork near the entrance was designed by videogame and anime character designer Yoshitaka Amano. The museum was created in 2003 in order to ""make Utsunomiya a charming city which fosters dreams"" after prominent fairy researcher Kimie Imura offered to donate rare, historically valuable items concerning fairies. The adjoining museum shop sells notepads and clear files bearing Amano's stained-glass artwork design, and more."

    This workshop makes Karasuyama washi, a type of Japanese washi paper whose history dates back to the Nara period. The workshop's German-inspired building features double-hung and dormer windows. Inside, the facility contains exhibits on the history and production of Karasuyama washi and also sells Karasuyama washi products. A product of the area's abundant natural resources, Karasuyama washi is officially supplied to the Imperial Household Agency to be used for the annual New Year's poetry reading. The workshop's hodomura Karasuyama washi paper is considered one of the best thick washi papers around and has been designated a National Intangible Cultural Property. The workshop's building was originally built as the Karasuyama Hospital in 1923. The building's pseudo-Western-style gabled roof has been designated a Heritage of Modernization by the city.

    栃木県へのドライブ旅行の際、那須烏山市を訪問したので、こちらの「烏山和紙会館」へも行ってみました。 グレーの立派な建物（元は病院だったようです）に入っており、展示内容も良く、ショッピングもできるようになっていました。

    This arts center in Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture features wood culture and traditions that trace back to ancient days. Inside, you’ll find a number of traditional crafts, including kanuma-kumiko shoji woodwork, kanuma-sokiridansu dressers, and the “sculpture float” —a city-designated Tangible Cultural Property used in the Kanuma Autumn Festival. You simply must see the elaborate decorations of the sculpture float. In the “kumiko-building experience,” you can put together an original coaster out of wood chips.

Most visits to Tochigi revolve around Nikko, a small city home to the spectacular, lavishly decorated Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, onsen, and wild monkeys.
