This dairy cattle ranch in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture has a great view of the Kanto Plain. It's a great spot for fun in the midst of nature with a petting zoo, an adventure playground, a huge sled, and a pasture. Their butter and ice cream making workshops are popular. Don't miss their mutton barbecue, the ranch's specialty.

Lots of tour buses stop here, there is a large souvenir /confectionery shop and several food stalls. For a place that is known for producing milk, the soft serve was disappointing (too icy and...

This ranch is located in Toyoharaotsu, Nasu Town. Their cow’s milk comes from jersey cows, rare in Japan, and the milk is pasteurized after being squeezed and processed in a way that keeps the fat globules from shrinking and preserves the natural non-homogenized taste. They sell milk, ice cream, “squeezable yogurt” in a tube, and other processed goods, and the cafe offers drinks and sweets made with the milk they produce and lunch sets that use locally grown vegetables and other options.

A fantastic location, food and service at this sublime country cafe with farm for kids. Nestled in the mountains this cafe is serviced by a dairy farm that makes superb ice-cream. A delicious meat...

Tochigi Main Areas

Most visits to Tochigi revolve around Nikko, a small city home to the spectacular, lavishly decorated Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, onsen, and wild monkeys. Neighboring Oku-Nikko is an extension of the fantastic scenery famous for its autumn leaves, while Tochigi's capital, Utsunomiya, is the only place in the world where you can find oya stone beautifully exhibited in temples and the Oya History Museum.
