A tofu shop in Kasama, Kasama City. They sell handmade tofu using natural brine and two kinds of locally grown soybeans: Fukuyutaka and Tachinagaha. In addition, they use Tanokuro bean, a rare Ibaraki variety for their Ibaraki Zairai Tofu, fresh yuba, sweet natto, and inaka miso.

お豆腐が、とってもおいしい。やはり冷奴でいただくのが最高。がんもどきはさっと焼いても、甘辛く煮てもおいしいです。豆乳ソフトは、甘さ控えめでさっぱりしています。笠間に行ったときは必ず立ち寄ります。

"A historic building in Shimotamari, Omitama City. Built in the middle of the Edo period and moved to its current location, this former village headman's house features a rare floor design known as ""doma-magari.” The hearth and the kamado cooking area have been reconstructed, and mingu folk items to help you understand daily life during that period are on display. Entry is free. The building is available for meetings and classes, too."

The veteran store was founded in 1852 and even served Mito's feudal lord. They sell famous Mito sweets like Mito-no-Ume (white bean paste and gyuhi rice cake wrapped in red shiso leaves soaked in the special syrup using Fukuyui Mito-born plum), as well as Miyabi no Ume (syrup-soaked aoume plums covered in white bean paste and wrapped in gyuhi rice cake).

This Japanese confectionery store is located along Prefectural Route 30, in 1-chome, Miwa, Mito City. It sells confectionery mostly centering on okaki mochi and rice crackers. The store's most popular items include Mito-man, which are fried dough cookies filled with the finest koshian bean paste, as well as freshly baked dango dumplings, made with mochi made every morning, and raisin cream cookie sandwiches. There is also a cafe room in the store, which displays and sells Kasama-yaki pottery.

値段がリーズナブルで美味しいおせんべいが沢山あります。また、買い物したお客様は奥でコーヒーや緑茶がいただけます。驚いたのは甘いお菓子が美味しいこと。生菓子(レーズンサンドなど)は151円ですがケーキ屋さんのもののような美味しさ。フロランタン(129円)も美味しくて、奥でコーヒーとともにいただきました。すごく得した気分になるお煎餅やさんです。

It can be found within the Tokiwa Shrine, which is where the second lord of the Mito Domain, Tokugawa Mitsukuni, and Nariaki, the ninth lord, are enshrined. The museum has exhibits of historical materials from the Edo period to the Meiji period relating to the Mito Domain, such as a draft manuscript called The Great History of Japan, which is a compilation of historical texts that was started by Mitsukuni, and Taikyoku, which is a cannon that was created by order of Nariaki.

A structure in Kairakuen, located on the grounds of Tokiwa-jinja Shrine in front of Kairakuen Station in Tokiwa-cho 1-Chome, Mito City. Said to have been designed by Tokugawa Nariaki, the 9th feudal lord of the Mito domain, it consists of a two-layered three-story wooden main building and a wooden single-story annex. The current building was restored after being destroyed by air raids during World War II. Open to the public, you can enter for a fee and enjoy the view from the third floor Rakujuro as well as the fusuma-e paintings on the sliding doors. A formal tea gathering is held once a month.

A cherry tree in Odo, Ibaraki Town, Higashiibaraki County. With a circumference of seven meters and a height of 15 meters, the tree has been designated as a National Natural Monument. It's over 500 years old. It is said that Tokugawa Mitsukuni – the second lord of the Mito Domain – was fond of it. It usually blooms around mid-April when many sightseers visit.

Mori no Chevrekan is a homemade cheese studio and makes goat cheese and cow cheese by hand. In the studio, you can enjoy an assorted platter with four types of homemade cheese (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only), limited seasonal cheese sandwiches and cheese pizza as well as sweets. A no-bake cheese tart using fromage soufflé and soft serve ice cream with goat’s milk from summer to fall are popular.
