The station sells fresh produce picked that morning, natto made with local soybeans, fresh baked breads, and a variety of other local specialty products. The station is a great place to take a break while on a long drive through the area.

    何となく縁起が良さそうな「開運 運盛りうどん」を食べました。たっぷりの野菜天ぷらが乗ったうどんと混ぜごはんのセットメニュー。天ぷらとうどんは美味しかったです。混ぜごはんは、普段から薄味な食事を摂っている私でも、味が薄すぎるかなって思いました。もうちょっと出汁が効いた味がするとさらに美味しくなると思います。

    "A Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Mitsukuni, the second lord of Mito Domain and star character in the fictionalized popular historical television drama ""Mito Komon;"" and Tokugawa Nariaki, the ninth lord of Mito Domain and a man considered one of the great intelligences of the closing days of the Edo period. The origins of the shrine date back to a small lay ancestral hall built on the grounds of Kairakuen Park in the early Meiji period by parishioners who idolized the two lords.     Located in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, this botanical garden is a part of the National Museum of Nature and Science, fully utilizing its position amid the rich nature at the southern base of Mt. Tsukuba, 7,000 species of plants—tropical and temperate—from Japan and around the world are cultivated here. General visitors can see roughly 3,000 of them. The garden is divided into nine sections, like evergreens, shrubs, aquatic plants, etc., and features three greenhouses recreating environments like the savannah and the tropical rainforest. You can see many rare foreign plants here.

    It is a gem of a place. Located near to Tsukuba University,bit is quiet and serene. If you plan to eat/picnic here, you need to bring your own food.

    One of Japan’s Top Three Waterfalls, the Fukuroda Falls in Kuji County, Ibaraki Prefecture, are 73 meters wide with a 120-meter drop over the tributaries and rapids of Kuji River. Also called “Shido-no-taki” because the falls break over four levels of rocks or because Saigyo Hoshi suggested visiting in each of the four seasons. Its icy visage in winter and the leaves of fall make for particularly inspiring views. The old lookout deck and the new one built in 2008 offer you different views to enjoy.

    "A facility which serves as both an archive and museum located a two-minute walk from the ""Rekishikan Kairakuen Iriguchi"" bus stop on the bus leaving from Mito Station on the JR Joban Line. The facility presents the results of research into materials and artefacts connected to the history of Ibaraki. The facility's spacious grounds also enclose an Edo period farmhouse and Meiji period Western-style school house which were dismantled and moved here. The facility's standing exhibit focuses on the history of Ibaraki. Easy to understand videos, graphic panels, and other exhibits present the prehistoric, ancient, near-modern, and modern history periods of the prefecture. The facility also holds lectures and activities for elementary and junior high school aged children."

    尊皇攘夷の先駆の藩、水戸藩の詳しい資料があるかなと思い来ましたが、市販の歴史書の方が詳しいですね。どちらかというと明治以降や石器時代の方が広くスペースを取っているようです。更にほとんどが撮影禁止です。少し残念ですね。
