    This school, built by the ninth lord of Mito Domain Tokugawa Nariaki in 1841, was once one of the largest domain-sponsored schools in the country. During the Battle of the Kodokan, an internal struggle which occurred in 1868, the majority of the building was destroyed in a fire, but portions of the original facility, including the front gate, Shizendo hall, and reception hall, as well as stone monuments, still stand today. In 2015, the location was designated a Japan Heritage Site by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as part of the Educational Heritage from Early-Modern Japan group of structures. Inside, there is a museum space where visitors can view historical materials and artefacts such as Chinese poetry by esteemed intellectual Yoshida Shoin; and a picture of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the last shogun of Japan.

    A museum dedicated to preserving Yuki-tsumugi pongee for future generations located a 10-minute walk from the north exit of JR Yuki Station. The museum's grounds enclose several elegant kominka (old Japanese-style house) repurposed into an exhibition hall, shop, and museum hall. Handed down from generation to generation, Yuki-tsumugi was born of human ingenuity and cultivated by the natural abundance of the area. Enwrapped in the museum's quiet, calming atmosphere, visitors can experience the history and beauty of this craft, in addition to being able to purchase high quality silk Yuki-tsumugi goods which are perfect for gifts. There's also a gallery / cafe on the grounds housed in a remodeled old combined shop and house (Misegura) where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea while taking in a standing exhibit.

    A Tendai Buddhist temple located a 15-minute walk from Ryugasaki Station on the Kanto Railway Ryugasaki Line. The temple's principal object of worship is a standing figure of Amitabha. The two-tiered pagoda standing on the grounds is an extremely rare example of Muromachi period architecture whose date of construction precedes 1556 and has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. The temple holds a grand fire prevention festival on December 23 which looks beyond differences in sect and creed. During the festival, the ashes of a huge bonfire are scattered on the ground and a fire walking ceremony is held in which anyone can participate with an advance reservation.

    ネット検索で偶然知り、近くに居た為始めて訪れてみました。天台宗のお寺で境内に国指定重要文化財の多宝塔があります。室町後期の建築物で、この地方では殆ど類を見ない珍しい物だという事です。休日に訪れましたが誰も居なく静かでした。

    An art museum which preserves and displays works of art by artists connected to Chikusei City such as potter Itaya Hazan and painter Morita Shigeru. The museum is located on the third floor of the Chiiki Koryu Center Arterio down Prefectural Route 305 traveling from JR Shimodate Station. Distinguished by its glass exterior, visitors can also enjoy the sight of Mt. Tsukuba and the surrounding scenery from the building's lobby and sky promenade. In addition to its standing exhibition, the museum holds special exhibitions, workshops, artwork appreciation meets, and a full array of other events. Easily accessible and casual in atmosphere, the museum also serves as a community gathering space.

    下館駅から徒歩10分弱。しもだて地域交流センター「アルテリオ」の3階にある。 入館料は所蔵品展のみの場合は210円、訪館した時は企画展「関由香写真展 ねこうらら」が開催されており600円となっていた。展示室は4室あるが3室は企画展で使用されていたため所蔵品の展示はわずか。作品保護のためと思われるが、所蔵品展の照明は暗くかなり鑑賞しにくかった。

    This science museum, Japan's only one dedicated to nuclear power, is situated along National Route 245 an 18-minute drive from the Hitachi-minami Ota Interchange on the Joban Expressway. The museum contains exhibits which introduce the foundations behind atoms and nuclear energy. Visitors can directly look at, touch, and interact with the things they are learning about through exhibits such as a big screen theater showing computer generated videos and the world's largest cloud chamber, which makes it possible to see the natural radiation that is around us at all times. In addition, exhibits on incidents such as the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster and the Tokaimura nuclear accident convey safe ways of utilizing radiation to future generations.

    エネルギーとしての原子力に関しての展示は少ないです。一番おもしろかったのは空港のX線検査装置ですね。実物を操作できて、こんな風に映るのかと感心しきりでした。見学の所要時間としては1時間あれば十分ですね。

    A museum established in 1990 which presents the history and folk customs of Ryugasaki. The museum's exhibits include a mockup of the Tsukumai, a traditional event which has been designated an Intangible Folk Cultural Property by Ibaraki Prefecture; videos; and information on folk art and lifestyles in the region from prehistory to the present day. The museum also holds a variety of educational events and activity programs like cloth weaving using a loom and dying fabrics with plant-based dyes.

    龍ヶ崎の歴史について展示されています。普通の資料館で大きくはありませんが、無料で気軽に入れるのが良い所です。

Also a popular place to take a break while en route to the Ryujin Big Suspension Bridge, the station is a perfect touring destination. The station sells local specialty products such as shimikonnyaku freeze-dried devil's tongue jelly and miso made in Ibaraki.

    ここの道の駅には、お土産も農産物も、全く魅力あるものがなく、本当にがっかりさせられた最近稀に見る場所です。近くの県道沿いに数件ある農産物販売所の方が全然新鮮で良いものが見られますよ。

    "A Shinto shrine dedicated to the mighty shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu which was erected in 1621 by Tokugawa Yorifusa, the first lord of Mito Domain. Today, Yorifusa himself is also enshrined here. The shrine owns many precious historical artefacts connected to the Tokugawa clan, including a copper lantern donated by Yorifusa, a temple bell known as the Tokiwayama Jisho which was caste on the order of Tokugawa Mitsukuni, and an ancient horse-drawn tank called the ""Anjinsha"" invented by Tokugawa Nariaki."

    This Shinto shrine is located in Shizu, Naka City. Although the exact date of its founding is unknown, it's estimated to be over 850 years old. The main deities it honors are the warrior god Takehazuchi-no-Mikoto and Shitori-no-Kami, the ancestral god of weaving. An autumn festival takes place annually from November 25th to 27th. Many visitors come at that time when they hold ceremonies like Tsuta Mai and Osasa Myojin. The hill on the western side of the grounds makes up Shizumine Furusato Park, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.

    篆刻美術館の隣にある赤い建物が古河街角美術館です。に古河市ゆかりの作家を中心に作品が展示されています。入場無料ですこじんまりとした規模ですが、意外と楽しめました。

As such, the museum was conceived as an education facility that works to raise awareness of and interest in Japan's role as a maritime country. Specimens on display depict the evolution of marine life from protozoa to whales.

    神社の敷地内にあり コンパクトな博物館でした でも、展示は、まあまあで、茨城県の海の事が解りました。 バスツアーの方が居ましたが見学しない様子ですいていて良かったです

The main house built in 1773 and mid-Edo period farmer’s residence with a roughly 330 square meter garden have been designated Prefectural Cultural Assets. Takahagi Saryo—a restaurant that has recently started using the facilty—is open for a limited period every year.

    A museum built on the site of the Kamitakatsu Shell Mound a 20-minute walk from the last stop on the JR Bus Kanto bound for Aeon Mall Tsuchiura leaving from JR Tsuchiura Station in Ibaraki Prefecture. A recreation of a Jomon period village based on excavations of the mound stands in a park adjoining the museum building and the shell mound fault plane sprawling along a slope in the park is also maintained as an exhibit. The museum itself uses videos and dioramas to introduce the Jomon period and the results of shell mound archeological excavations. The museum also offers interactive lessons and lectures on the field of archeology.

    夏休みに夜の虫を観察するイベントに参加しました。 セミが脱皮するところや蛍、カブトムシやクワガタムシなどいろいろ見ることができ、子供たちは大喜びしていました。 また行きたいです。

    Ibaraki Tsuchiura-shi Otemachi 4-16
    This temple is located in Otemachi, Tsuchiura City. The bronze bell inside the temple grounds was donated to Gokuraku-ji Temple by the military commander of the Kamakura period, Hatta Tomoie, and was later used in Tsuchiura Castle, and then moved to the temple in 1884. It is counted as one of the three ancient Hitachi bells, and has been designated as a nationally important cultural property.

    土浦ひな祭りに行き立ち寄りました。ガイドブックの歴史散策に紹介されてたお寺です。有名なのは銅鐘で、常陸三古鐘の一つで国指定の文化財とのことです。除夜にのみ音色が聞けるそうです。境内にある松の枝ぶりも見応えありました。
