The store's most popular items include Mito-man, which are fried dough cookies filled with the finest koshian bean paste, as well as freshly baked dango dumplings, made with mochi made every morning, and raisin cream cookie sandwiches. There is also a cafe room in the store, which displays and sells Kasama-yaki pottery.

    値段がリーズナブルで美味しいおせんべいが沢山あります。 また、買い物したお客様は奥でコーヒーや緑茶がいただけます。 驚いたのは甘いお菓子が美味しいこと。 生菓子(レーズンサンドなど)は151円ですがケーキ屋さんのもののような美味しさ。フロランタン(129円)も美味しくて、奥でコーヒーとともにいただきました。 すごく得した気分になるお煎餅やさんです。

Their fresh cake is made with carefully selected local strawberries, and their Kotei Daifuku bean jam-stuffed sweets are made with an ancient variety of mochi rice. They also have pastries, mochi rice cakes wrapped in bamboo leaves, and more. The shop's atmosphere is a fusion of Japan and the West as well.

    A senbei rice cracker shop located a 20 minute drive from JR Shimodate Station. Here you can buy senbei and dango dumplings made with select ingredients by Sekiguchi Jouzou, a soy sauce maker which has been brewing soy sauce for ages in the seasonally rich Mt. Tsukuba area. In the bright and spacious shop area, you'll find shelves lined with a great variety of products, like the popular Tsukeyaki, rice crackers dipped twice in pure, raw soy sauce, but only on one side, before being baked; and the chewy and light Amakuchi Shittorisen. You can sample almost all of the products on offer to choose and purchase your favorites.

    A 13 minute drive from Tokushuku Station. Tobita is a Japanese confectionary standing along National Route 51. The shop is small but bright, and its display shelves are lined with old-fashioned, delicious Japanese and baked sweets. The shop’s kashiwamochi, select a sweet bean paste wrapped in a homemade rice flour dough covered with an oak leaf, is available year round. Particularly recommended items include the melon daifuku, melon pies, chestnut monaka, and melon monaka. The melon daifuku in particular draws many repeat customers from far and wide, but it’s only available from May to July. The secret to this treat’s popularity is the distinctly invigorating sweetness of muskmelon; the dough and an bean paste is mixed with juice from muskmelons grown in Hokota, and these in turn enwrap pieces of cut melon.

    An incense workshop which has operated for 100 years, since Japan’s Meiji period. Komamura Seimeido makes its incense by grinding dried Japanese cedar leaves in a water wheel-powered mill. Each batch is slowly ground over a 40 hour period, preventing the generation of excess heat during the process and preserving the fragrance of the cedar. The workshop’s Chrysanthemum incense sticks, used during the city of Kasama’s Chrysanthemum Festival, are particularly popular. Komamura Seimeido also sells its incense direct. The workshop also provides tours and mini incense making classes with an advance reservation.

    Mori no Chevrekan is a homemade cheese studio and makes goat cheese and cow cheese by hand. In the studio, you can enjoy an assorted platter with four types of homemade cheese (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays only), limited seasonal cheese sandwiches and cheese pizza as well as sweets. A no-bake cheese tart using fromage soufflé and soft serve ice cream with goat’s milk from summer to fall are popular.

    Kurabiyori in Tsukuba, a town for bread, is a bakery café with a Japanese atmosphere. The building is a former rice storehouse with 180 years since it was built in the Edo period (1615–1865), which has been designated as an National Tangible Cultural Property. In the shop, there is a range of bread with exclusive ingredients for purchase, and bread can also be eaten in a café area. The burdock cheese France, a French bread with plenty of sesame topped with burdock salad and cheese, as well as the maple melon bread with plenty of maple syrup kneaded into it are recommended. The maple melon bread was awarded the 1st place at a bread competition in Tsukuba.
