This zoo is located inside the Hitachi Kamine Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Popular for its elephants, giraffes, capybara beavers, and lesser pandas, this zoo nurtures around 500 creatures of 70 varieties. The Petting Square, where one can touch the smaller animals and the python and observe the animals up-close is one of the main attractions. The Elephant Cafe is also popular where one can watch the elephants while enjoying a snack.

It’s an old zoo with tiny concrete cages. The money habitat is okay, but the rest is rather sad. I would skip it.

A nature park and zoo located next to the Saikoin Temple northeast of Mt. Tsukuba a 25-minute drive from the Tsuchiura-kita interchange. The zoo's shows, featuring monkeys, wild boar, and cats, are particularly popular. In the petting zoo area, visitors can play with rabbits and other small animals and see ponies and bears up close. The park also has a cafe and walking paths. In addition, the park, situated among the mountains, boasts excellent scenery and visitors can enjoy seasonal sights like azaleas and fall foliage. Lastly, the park offers outdoor activities like paragliding.

Ibaraki Areas

Just a stone's throw from Tokyo, Ibaraki is a coastal prefecture that has mastered juxtapositions, where old shrines meet new scientific discoveries and traditional gardens are frequented by the inventors of some of the newest technology. Head to Mito City's Kairakuen - one of Japan's Three Great Gardens - in spring to experience the cellestial blooming of fantastic cherry blossoms at the annual sakura festival.
