Fukushima Pref. Yamagunkitashiobaramura Hibara Kengamine 1093-36
A museum dedicated to Mt. Bandai located in Kitashiobara Village, Yama County, Fukushima Prefecture. Visitors can vicariously experience the 1888 eruption of Mt. Bandai via a giant model in the museum. The museum also displays various items and materials about and from the time of the eruption, in addition to presenting the history of Mt. Bandai and the plants and animals which live there. Visited by large numbers of families, the museum holds nature watching and other events several times a year.

Fukushima Yama-gun Kitashiobara Mura Hibara Kengamine 1093-716
A memorial museum that helps visitors understand everything about volcanos and eruptions. Although the Bandai Highlands are beautiful in any season, that beauty was built on top of the many casualties of the steam-blast eruption of the mountain in 1888. This facility teaches visitors about what happened to the Bandai Highlands after the eruption. It also has exhibits about the connection between volcanos (worldwide and in Japan) and meteorological phenomena, as well as temporary seasonal exhibits.
