    This art museum is located along National Route 459, at Kengamine Hibara, Kitashiobara Village, Yama County Fukushima Prefecture. Since its opening in 1999, exhibits have centered on the collection of Teizo Morohashi—the founder of Xebio Holdings Company. It is known for housing roughly 330 pieces in its Salvador Dali collection, making it the only museum in Asia that permanently maintains works by Dali.

    A Shingon Buddhist temple located in Aizubange Town, Kawanuma County Fukushima Prefecture. The temple's principal object of worship is an 11 faced, thousand hand statue of Kannon nicknamed the Tachiki Kannon. It is believed that the hermitage was constructed by the Liang Chinese monk Seigan in 540. Inside the Kannon-do hall, there is a pillar that is said to grant your wish if you embrace it, and many people come here to do just that.

    A museum dedicated to Chieko Takamura, poet and wife of sculptor Kotoaro Takamura, located in Yui Urushihara-machi, Nihommatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The museum design is modeled after a sake brewery and displays drawings and paintings. Occasionally, the living room used by the artist located on the second floor, normally closed to the public, is specially opened for viewing. The facility also holds workshops on making papercut art, postcards, and bookmarks with Kamikawasaki washi paper, attracting many visitors.

    5年ぶりの訪問でした。今回は病に侵された智恵子の紙絵をゆっくり鑑賞、素朴でイノセントな紙絵はどこか儚く、言葉を失った智恵子の想いを伝えているような気がしました。

    A shrine in Kita-machi, Nakamura, Soma City. It was originally the Myokensha Shrine founded 1000 years prior by Taira no Masakado, an ancestor of the Soma family, before it was moved in 1611 to the grounds of Soma Nakamura Castle (the current temple grounds). The current main shrine building was constructed in 1643 and has been designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Archeological remains such as the stone walls of Soma Nakamura Castle are still present on the temple grounds.

    中村城跡の敷地内にある神社です。 かなり古い建物になっていましたが、その分雰囲気がありました。 入り口にある巨大な杉の木(親子杉)は必見です。 「相馬」の地名の名の通り、馬にゆかりのある場所のようで、入り口には狛犬のように馬の像が2体並んでいました。

    A museum dedicated to Mt. Bandai located in Kitashiobara Village, Yama County, Fukushima Prefecture. Visitors can vicariously experience the 1888 eruption of Mt. Bandai via a giant model in the museum. The museum also displays various items and materials about and from the time of the eruption, in addition to presenting the history of Mt. Bandai and the plants and animals which live there. Visited by large numbers of families, the museum holds nature watching and other events several times a year.

    磐梯山の噴火で湖ができた過程がよくわかる。観光客にはあまり人気がないらしく訪れる人は少ない。展示内容は大人向けなので子供は楽しめないと思う。貴重な資料がたくさんあり、どうやって湖ができたのか、湖には村が沈んでいるとか、いろいろ勉強になる。

    An outdoor museum featuring the Edo period Aizu residential complex of Saigo Tanomo, along with the old Nakahata encampment, a tea house, a rice mill, and other buildings of historical interest on the grounds. It is a comprehensive cultural facility built for the purpose of disseminating and transferring the history and culture of Aizu on a site of about 23,100 square meters. There are also shops and restaurants, and it is also possible to purchase special products and dine. You can experience the culture of Aizu by painting Akabeko (red bull dolls) and Okiagari Koboshi (papier-mâché roly-poly dolls of priests). (Reservations required)

    会津若松の名物料理をあれこれ食べたくてセットメニューがあるお店を探していたところ、会津武家屋敷に併設されたレストランにそういうメニューがあったので訪ねました。 わっぱ飯、会津蕎麦、こづゆ、棒鱈煮付け、にしんの山椒煮など食べたいと思っていたものが揃っていました。一緒に地酒をいただけば完璧です!武家屋敷見学に合わせて是非オススメです。

    A temple in Teramae, Hirano, Iizaka-machi, Fukushima City. It was established in 826. The principal object of worship in the main hall is the Dainichi Nyorai while in the Yakushi Hall the object of worship as introduced by the monk Kobo Daishi is the Yakushi Nyorai, also called the Saba-no-Yakushi. The temple was also the family temple for the Sato family of the Northern Fujiwara clan who ruled over Iizaka. While on his Narrow Road to the Interior, poet Matsuo Basho recalled the devotion of lord Sato Tsugunobu, who died taking an arrow for lord Minamoto no Yoshitsune, with a verse, 'Decorate the satchel and the sword with streamers, in the month of May.' The temple grounds have a slab with Basho's verse carved into it as well as a treasure hall.

    A Shinto shrine located in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. Because the shrine enshrines a division of the deity of Ise-jingu Shrine, it is nicknamed the Ise-sama of Tohoku. The shrine is surrounded by the lush natural beauty of Kaiseizan Park and during the shrine's cherry blossom festival and on New Year's Day, the shrine is visited by many people. The shrine also provides ceremonial cleansings from evil influences and shichi-go-san (ages seven, five, and three) blessings for children.

    散歩の途中で開成山神社へ行きました。立派な鳥居で、歴史を感じる本殿も立派です。始まりは明治時代のこの地域の開墾に関係しているようです。また、東北のお伊勢さまと呼ばれているようであり、立派な神社であることがわかります。開成山公園が近くで、この時期は桜が綺麗に見えます。満開の桜が近くで、威厳のある開成山神社がより映えて見えます。また、行きます。

    A cultural preservation establishment located in the Azuma Sports Park in Oishimae, Kaminagura, Fukushima City. It contains houses from the prefecture's northern area and the Aizu area that were first built between the mid-Edo Period and the mid-Meiji Period and the moved and reconstructed. The onsite museum has exhibits around the theme of Home Life and there's a hands-on area with straw craft and classic toys.

    母校の校歌も古関裕而氏の作だったことを思い出し立ち寄りました。校歌、歌謡曲、軍歌やスポーツ関係の曲の数々の他、NHKラジオの「ひるのいこい」のテーマ曲なども古関氏の曲と知り、その幅広さに驚きます。館内の撮影はできませんが、曲と映像も楽しめる施設となっています。

    郡山駅からタクシーで約10分。あまり期待していなかったのだけど、尋常中学校の建物がそのまま保存されていて、教室の机、黒板、当時の教科書や文書まで保存されていてびっくり。壁だけは震災で崩れたので再生したそうですが、床や階段などはそのまま。期待以上でした。ただし、冬は暖房がないのでかなり寒いです。春、秋などに訪れることをお勧めします。

The figure is specially revealed during the annual festivals in spring and fall, attracting many visitors.

    ヘンリー・ムーアの作品がエントランスで待っていました。せっかくですので、企画展を含めての入場料を払います。地元の作家さんの力作を見ることができました。展示数が多くも少なくもなく、鑑賞しても疲れません。いい美術館です。

    Shirakawa Komine Castle is a flatland-style Japanese castle that is just north of Shirakawa Station on the Tohoku Main Line. It is among Japan’s Top 100 Castles and one of Top 3 Tohoku Castles thanks to its stone walls which are rare in the Tohoku region. It was built in the Nanboku-cho period by Yuki Chikatomo on Kominegaoka Hill. In the Edo period it was lived in by Shogunate families such as the Honda and Matsudaira families. The modern three-story keep was reconstructed based on images from the Edo period and was designated as a National Historical Site in 2010.

Visitors can enjoy seasonal scenery here, such as a beautiful ravine area and an avenue of cedar trees over 100 years old. The temple is also a popular fall foliage destination and during the season the grounds are lit up at night.

    This ancient temple belonging to the Buzan-ha sect of Shingon Buddhism was founded by the monk Tokuitsu in the year 807. Also known as Aizu Chuo Yakushido, it possesses a number of national treasures and national important cultural assets that represent the Tohoku region. The temple's wooden seated image of the Bhaisajyaguru as well as the standing image of the Suryaprabha Bodhisattva and image of the Candraprabha Bodhisattva to its left and right are all national treasures. The temple possesses 12 other early Heian period Buddhist images, nine of which are important cultural assets. It is rare for so many statues from this period to be all in one place. The statues are available for viewing upon advanced request from April to mid November.

    This temple was built as the family temple of the Niwa clan, who were the lords of the Nihonmatsu Domain. The temple belongs to the Soto sect of Buddhism. Its grounds currently feature a reconstructed bell tower, the mausoleums of the successive heads of the Niwa clan, who ruled the Nihonmatsu Domain. It also features the graves of the members of the Nihonmatsu Youth Brigade whose young lives were lost during the Boshin War as well as a memorial tower dedicated to the victims of the conflict. Other points of interest include Kannonyama, a sacred place where the Saigoku Sanjusan Kannon are enshrined, a pilgrimage of thirty-three Buddhist temples throughout the Kansai region of Japan as well as the Enmei Koyasu Jizoson guardian Ksitigarbha of childbirth.

    大隣寺ははじめ、白河の地に建立されましたが、その後、国替えとともに二本松に移り、二本松藩主歴代の菩提寺となりました。 現在の本堂は1810年代に改築されたものです。戊辰戦争直後には、藩主の謹慎所や二本松藩庁の仮事務所、藩校などにも使用されました。本堂の左側には戊辰戦争殉難者の霊とともに、二本松少年隊隊長、副隊長と少年隊戦死者14人の供養塔が建立されています。

    This museum-and-café is a memorial for doctor Hideyo Noguchi, located in Nakamachi, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. This black-walled, western-style warehouse was first built in 1884 and later renovated. The first floor is a café, and the second floor is a historical resources museum. Originally, it was the “Kyu-Kaiyo-in Hospital” where Hideyo underwent an operation for the hand he burned in childhood, and where he spent his adolescence later as a scholar. The museum displays a variety of documents relevant to Hideyo Noguchi.
