In addition to classic fresh cream, they have a wide variety of flavors including matcha, caramel, chocolate and cheese. The ""Aizu Seven Lucky Dumplings"" made with Aizu Koshihikari rice is popular for its soft texture and gentle sweetness. Their mountain yam buns served as a tea ceremony confectionery at Rinkaku, a tearoom associated with Sen no Rikyu, is loved as an ancient Japanese confectionery."

    週末限定ですが店先でみたらし団子が売っており、甘い物がふと欲しくなり入ってみました。店横には小さいベンチもあるので座って小休憩を取ることも可能。店内は美味しそうな和菓子が並んでおり、気になったら買ってみるのも悪くないかもしれません。

    This Japanese confectionery shop in Ashinomaki Hot Spring is located about a 20-minute drive from the center of Aizu Wakamatsu City. Marumine brown sugar buns, a specialty of Ashinomaki Hot Spring, are sold at here next to the Ashinomaki Post Office. The brown sugar buns, which are made with brown sugar and wrapped in lightly sweetened smooth red bean paste made from carefully selected azuki beans, have the same nostalgic taste as in the past. These manju buns are served to guests at the nearby long-established inn Marumine as a snack to have with tea. The bright, blue-tinted interior has a cafe corner inside the store, and many tourists stop by on their way to explore the hot spring resort.

The ""Tsubaki Mochi"" is a traditional Aizu confectionary with a crisp and simple taste, and is said to have been eaten by the Byakkotai (the Japanese warriors who fought in the Byakkotai) in the old days."

    大町通りを散策していると赤漆喰(?)の外壁が目を引く歴史を感じさせる佇まいの建物があります。この建物が創業200年の会津の老舗菓子店「伊勢屋製菓」です。白虎隊も食べたといわれている「元祖伊勢屋椿餅」がお勧めです。和クルミをふんだんに使ったういろうのような食感の醤油味の菓子です。

    東山温泉街にある和菓子屋さんです。こちらの水羊羹は絶品です。一度食べてから、やみつきになってしまい会津若松に旅すると必ず購入します。そのためだけに、温泉街まで行くのもどうかと思われるかもしれませんが、温泉街にある足湯に浸かりながらゆったりと時を過ごせば気分は上々で、持ち帰った後いつ口に入れようかと楽しみは増えるばかりです。

This flagship store is located a 10-minute walk from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station and carries all of Taroan's products. Facing the street, it is an elegant combination of a grain storehouse and kominka (old house) in Shimogo Town. There is a free coffee corner that is perfect as a meeting spot or taking a break from walking around town. Their ""Aizu no Tenjin-sama"" (Gods of Aizu) is a combination of fluffy and sweet bouchee dough and salty Hokkaido butter, and it is a popular product that was created for the opening in 1979. Seasonal flavors such as strawberry, Matcha green tea and blueberry are also popular."

    This confectionery has maintained its unchanged flavor since its founding in the early Taisho era. The shop is housed in a ware-house style residence that was once a traditional Japanese restaurant, and now it offers a variety of standard sweets and seasonal treats. Their most popular item is the bite-sized Hitokuchi Manju buns, which are popularly called Ten Yen Buns. The clean, pleasant sweetness are light enough to eat every day. Their seasonal treats are also special, as they have Sakura mochi cherry rice cake in spring, shaved ice in summer, sweet potato treats in fall and in winter, they have Kintsuba sweet bean jelly. Follow Shiyakusho-dori Street past the park and look for the modern exterior.

    蔵巡りをして駐車場に向かう途中に市役所の近くに蔵造りの立派な店舗を見つけ立ち寄ってみました。和菓子はどれも100円前後の手頃な価格でバラ売りです。歩き疲れた時の糖分補給ということで「一口まんじゅう」を買い求めました。甘さも程良く、一個10円という価格も魅力的です。

    This sake shop is in a remodeled warehouse from the early Meiji period. The warehouse uses a rare wooden interior, and it stands across from the Kitakata City Museum of Art. It is equipped with a wine cellar, and leaves the warehouses original stepper floor to help divide product types. The massive warehouse walls are excellent at helping control temperature and humidity, making them perfect for wine storage. The Multi Vita Vino fruit wine, made from 10 different fruits, has a lovely label and is perfect for gifting. The shop also has a full lineup of local sake and western spirits.

    This is the main shop of confectionery Kannoya, a chain with locations all over the prefecture, centered around Koriyama. Located about a five-minute drive from Miharu Station, they offer up traditional Fukushima treats and seasonal Japanese sweets. Kaden Yubeshi are Kannoya's flagship treat, which are thinly rolled yubeshi mochi sheets with a dollop of sweet bean paste in the middle, that are then folded into ornate trifleur shapes, representing a crane in flight. They have a gentle hint of soy sauce to bring out the natural richness of the sweet bean paste aftertaste. The unique shape is inspired by legends saying that Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, ancestor of Miharu lord Tamura Yoshiaki, was raised by two red-crowned cranes.

    こちらのお店と郡山駅の中のお土産屋さん限定の生づつみゆべしを後者の店で買いました。 生地が柔らかく、美味しかったです。

    This shop is managed by venerable confectionery Kashiwaya, which dates back to 1852. Located to the northeast of Kaiseizan park, a famous cherry blossom spot, they offer traditional sweets and seasonal fresh treats. The gently sweet Usukawa Manju buns are counted among the three best manju in Japan. They have two versions, one with smooth, creamy koshian bean paste, and another with coarsely crushed tsubuan bean paste. Both are available individually or in sets. Their Seiro Usukawa set is packed in a towering wooden steamer box, making for a delightful gift. They also offer Usukawa Manju Making activities, where you can spend around 40 minutes learning to make the treats yourself (reservations required).

    柏屋は、郡山銘菓薄皮饅頭が有名な店です。郡山駅ナカにあるエスパルの中でも購入できますが、こちらはお茶をいただいたり、店の雰囲気を味わうこと画できるのも嬉しいです。駅からはちょっと遠くて、バスの利用をお勧めします。郡山市役所のすぐ近くです。

    This Japanese confectionery is in the center of Sukagawa. Located about 500 meters from Sukagawa city office, it offers up Kumatapan, considered soul food by the locals, as well as a range of other treats. Kumatapan, with its crisp outside and moist inside texture, is made by mixing brown sugar water into wheat flour and kneading it to a dough, then wrapping it around smooth sweet bean paste before baking. The treats retain their old-fashioned taste developed after the Second World War, when sugar was finally freely available again. The makers adjust the brown sugar levels depending on the day's temperature and humidity, making sure they always get the perfect puffy texture.

The specialty of this authenticity-oriented shop is their Madoka Manju which features a gentle elasticity and springy outer dough. They offer two varieties, each carefully and individually made, one with a strained red bean paste filling with a brown sugar dough wrapping and the other with a white bean paste filling with a miso dough wrapping. Their Irodori sculpted seasonal mochi treats are a beautiful confection that make for the perfect gift.

Nearly 100 stalls are lined up along Setomachi-dori Street, the town's main street, offering Aizu-hongo ware, lacquerware, locally grown agricultural goods, and more. The festival dates back to the late Meiji period when the disciples of the Aizu-hongo Pottery studios sold their wares on the road as souvenir for people worshipping the annual festival at Hachiyoji Temple in Aizuwakamatsu City. The event, with people gathering the early morning to buy functional and beautiful potteries just as they were in the past, has become popular as the summer tradition in Aizu.

They offer authentic handmade tofu made with Oku-Aizu Centennial Water that springs from deep within the mountains. Their fresh tofu, made with carefully selected locally grown green soybeans and bittern gathered from natural salt fields, has a vibrant top-quality flavor that gradually exposes the sweetness of the soybeans in your mouth. The shop is located within a kominka-style Japanese residence and you can enjoy their Tamanashi Gozen Meal which comes with Yose Tofu (soft tofu), Namaage (deep-fried tofu), Okara (tofu dregs), and donuts.     A long-standing Japanese confectioner said to have been founded during the mid-Meiji period. They make and sell seasonal sweets and treats for various auspicious events, including Miharu's specialty Otari-Manju . During the period of upheaval, the shop was established next to the Miharu horse market and the Otari-Manju gained popularity amongst the horse dealers that visited the city. It comes in two varieties with both smooth and coarse red bean paste. The thin-skinned manju made with local miso and soy sauce is a classic Miharu souvenir that can't be had anywhere else. Also popular are their authentic yokan jelly made with local adzuki beans and their Mame-Daifuku made with salted boiled red peas.

    A Japanese and western-style confectioner located along National Route 288 about a five-minute drive from Miharu Station. At this shop in the center of Miharu you'll find sweets one by one made with care and devotion. One of their popular treats is their adorable Sakura Sable shortbread cookie which both looks like a cherry blossom flower and has salted cherry blossoms included in the batter. You can buy just one or a bundle and they make for the perfect Miharu souvenir. Other popular treats include their Miharu Takizakura, a cherry blossom shaped baked treat with a coarse red bean paste inside, and their Miharu Pie, a crispy pie filled with white beans paste, walnuts, and raisins.
