山の中にある温泉施設です。利用しているのは地元の方がほとんどだと思います。車がないと訪れるのは難しいでしょう。 お湯はぬるぬるしていて気持ちいいです。脱衣所やシャワーなど設備は整っているので快適です。

- This hot spring in Semi Onsen is located in Mogami Town, Mogami County. There is a legend that Semi Onsen originated when Kamewakamaru, the son of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, was born; Benkei went in search of water for the baby’s first bath, saw steam at the riverside, and smashed a rock with his long sword, causing a hot spring to spout out. Today, there is still a natural onsen formed by rocks at the riverside; although visitors can observe the rising steam, they cannot normally enter for a bath, as the temperature is too high.

- First developed in 1816, this hot spring is the only one in Japan to have been directly operated by a feudal domain government. The waters of the calcium magnesium sodium sulfate / hydrocarbonate salt springs, piped from Mt. Myoko, one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, combine two differing qualities. These waters are said to be effective for general indication and treat such ailments as cuts, peripheral circulatory failure, sensitivity to cold, depression, abnormally dry skin, hardening of the arteries, chronic skin diseases, and burns. The area is also said to be the birthplace of the concept of an onsen sommelier, and the local onsen sommeliers, versed in the intricacies of hot springs and how to bathe in them, can answer any questions you may have. Visitors can choose between hot spring lodging facilities as well as day trip bathhouses and footbaths as suits their needs and interests.

Although often overlooked, Yamagata prefecture by no means lacks appeal: the Yamadera temple trail through the mountains, deliciously tender Yonezawa wagyu, and over 100 steaming hot springs, most notably Zao Onsen, await visitors. When winter comes, the snowcapped peaks become dotted with skiers by day and onsen-goers by night, while summer brings the celebration of juicy Yamagata cherries.
