- Cape Nyudozaki is at the end of the Oga Peninsula. At the end of an expanse of green grass stands a lighthouse characterized by its black and white exterior. The panorama of the wide expanse of blue ocean is most impressive. A monument that marks 40° north latitude is made of andesite rock from the Oga Peninsula.

- Akita Oga-shi
- This cliff-dotted coastline is believed to have been formed by the accumulation of volcano-induced mud flows some 30 million years ago when the Japanese archipelago made up the eastern end of the Eurasian continent. Until the opening of a toll road in 1970, boats were the primary means of transportation in the area. Weathering has worn the cliff stone in complex patterns and views of them from a boat on the sea are particularly spectacular.

Akita Areas
Famed for its sake and samurai, Akita prefecture offers quintessential Japanese culture in a non-touristy setting. Alongside the celebrated rice paddies and historical sites of the region lies dramatic natural scenery in the form of the rugged coastline of the Oga Peninsula and the Dakigaeri Gorge, best visited in autumn, when the leaves begin to change color.
