Shiroishi Castle is a flatland-style Japanese castle in the city of Shiroishi, just a 10-minute walk from Shiroishi Station. The castle was used by the Date clan of the Sendai Domain but then the Katakura clan were hereditary retainers of the castle for 260 years from after the battle of Sekigahara until the Meiji period. At the start of the Meiji period the castle was demolished by Ordinance for the Disposal of Castles but in remembrance of the achievements of Date Masamune’s senior retainer Katakura Kagetsuna, the three-story keep and two gates were faithfully restored in 1995. Shiroishi Castle has around 400 cherry trees (in Masuoka Park). It is a famous cherry blossom spot that attracts a lot of tourists around mid-April.

Located near Lake Kamafusa, this is Tohoku’s most extensive public park administered by the national government. It is becoming a popular sightseeing spot since it is close to sightseeing areas such as Akiu Onsen. Visitors can experience Tohoku’s nature and culture, and it is worth seeing the flowers that bloom across the four seasons. Tulips in the spring, and the fields of cosmos flowers that bloom from summer to autumn fill the park with color.

I visited this park at the end of April when the flowers were at their full bloom. the view is really exceptional and amazing, I think this park deserves to be considered as one of the marvels of...

This is one of two public bathhouses in the Togatta Onsen hot spring district known since ancient times as a destination for religious mountain climbing and therapeutic bathing. The bathhouse' men's and women's bathing areas, enshrouded in the fragrance of cypress from Aomori, both have a very hot and a lukewarm bath. The bathhouse also has a free footbath outdoors. The waters of the bathhouse' sodium calcium-sulfate chloride springs are soft and said to treat such ailments as nerve pain, rheumatism, and women's diseases.

Lake Okama is a round crater lake on Goshikidake Peak in the Zao Range, and it is a famous scenic spot, considered a symbolic place in the Goshiki Zao region. It is surrounded by three peaks, Zao Karitadake Peak, Kumanodake Peak, and Goshikidake Peak, and it derives its name, which means “kettle,” due to its shape. Due to the concentration of sulfur and other chemicals in the water, the surface of the lake can take on a turquoise or emerald green color, creating a mystic landscape. This lake is unique among the world’s lakes in that it has multiple temperature layers, with the water hotter at certain depths. Due to the acidity of the water, no living organisms inhabit the lake.

A merchant house located in the center of town. Construction lasted from the mid-Meiji period to the Taisho period. The storehouse, main building, and treasury all give the appearance of the style of the wealthy Edo-Tokyo style merchant class and throughout the country there aren't many manors like this that are still so well preserved. The building is highly regarded as a very valuable cultural heritage. As you pass through the main gate, you'll find a garden of carefully maintained seasonal trees and vegetation and will feel as if you've traveled back in time to the good old days of the Meiji or Taisho periods. The property is currently a rental space and is used for a variety of genres of events including Rakugo comic storytelling, plays, small live music events, and photo exhibitions.

Migaki Ichigo strawberries are also known as edible jewels and you can eat as many as you like over a 30-minute period in their spacious greenhouse. Grown on platforms, you can pick them while standing, and the wide-open isles make the facility wheelchair accessible. With topping options like condensed milk and syrup from their chocolate fountain, it's especially popular with families and couples. Strawberry picking is held from January to May. It is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

"An eight kilometer, 10-minute drive from the Shiroishi interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. This day trip hot spring bathhouse is located on Tonton no Oka, a naturally lush hill surrounded by undeveloped woodland on the western side of Ogawara Town. The bathhouse constantly replenishes its tubs from a source spring ""kakenagashi"" style and without the use of any added waters. The waters of the bathhouse' natural spring are alkaline and soft; gentle on the skin, they are also said to have skin beautifying properties. The old fashioned Japanese home-style bathhouse building is filled with warm, welcoming wooden fixtures. Customers can enjoy one of two bathing areas - the stone Ishi no Yu and the wood Ki no Yu; which is the men's and which is the women's bathing area alternates on a weekly basis. The bathhouse' restaurant serves an abundant variety of dishes, including vaunted Mochibuta pork cuisine."
