The Hirosegawa River flows through Sendai City. It is a tributary of the Natori River and has a water vein near the Sekiyama Pass in the Ou Mountain Range. It featured in the 1978 hit single Aobajo Koi Uta and is known as a symbol of Sendai City. To protect the river's natural environment, every spring there's a cleaning event along the river called the 10,000 Member Hirosegawa River Project. The river is decorated with legions of carp streamers for the Golden Week Holiday, and their Hirose River at Play event is held annually, with various activities such as boat rides and bottle rocket launching.

Lying along the northeastern coast of Japan, Miyagi prefecture is home to lashings of natural parks, oysters, and hot springs. While the bustling city of Sendai offers some simple city entertainment, it’s the Matsushima islands that deserve the most attention, having boosted the prefecture’s reputation as one of Japan’s most scenic views.
