    This historic beach located in Shichigahama Town, Miyagi County, Miyagi Prefecture opened in 1888. It has hosted such famous visitors as the poet Kenji Miyazawa, and it gets crowded with people from all over the prefecture every year. They hold various events like a summer festival and a fireworks display in season. Visitors enjoy water sports like surfing and bodyboarding throughout the year. Paid luggage lockers, showers, and parking are available.
  • Koda-no-Hama Beach

    This swimming beach is located on Kesennuma Oshima Island in Nakayama, Kesennuma City. Beautiful semi-circular beach and the gentle waves and wind make for calm spot for sea bathing. The Ministry of the Environment has chosen it as one of the Selection of best 100 beaches. It was severely damaged during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, but it has been restored by the local residents and outside volunteers.

    This beach is located in Kamisosaka Ajihama, Ishinomaki. This coast, with its white sand beach and one of the most transparent cobalt blue areas of water in the Tohoku region, becomes very lively with bathers in the summer. It also has facilities such as showers and changing rooms.
  • Tsukihama Beach

    A swimming beach generally bustling with visitors located a 15 minute drive from Nobiru Station on the JR Senseki Line. The beach is opened for swimming around mid-July and for around one month thereafter. The paid parking area can accommodate 100 vehicles. The beach is equipped with portable toilets, paid showers, and lifeguard stations. The beach's gentle waves ensure children can play here with peace of mind and it is a popular destination for families. The beach was damaged in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake but construction on the embankment has now been completed. There are many minshuku traditional Japanese-style bed and breakfasts in the area which continue to serve guests fresh, tasty seafood delights as they have for centuries.
  • Shirahama Beach

    This beach resort is located in Kitakamicho, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. During peak season about 10,000 beach goers visit each year for its white sand, shallow waters, and calm surf. Although it received heavy damage during the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, through the cooperation of local volunteers it re-opened on a limited basis in 2013. It has portable toilets, a women's changing room, a foot washing area, and a parking lot.
