"A cape located inside Tsugaru Quasi-National Park which can be reached by travelling west on Prefectural Route 111 to its endpoint. The cape sticks out of the west coast of the Tsugaru Peninsula into the Sea of Japan like a lion lying down. A shrine was erected here to pray for the safety of those involved in fishing, a thriving industry in the Kodomari area, and thus the cape is also known as ""Gongenzaki Cape."" This picturesque destination is considered one of Japan's two most beautiful capes alongside Cape Nomozaki on the Nagasaki Peninsula. Consisting of a precipitous cliff rising 229 meters above sea level, the cape has a walking path and visitors can enjoy a panoramic view extending from Mt. Iwaki all the way to distant Hokkaido. The cape is also counted as one of the ""12 Views of Kodomari"" which are derived from a Shichigon-zekku (qiyan jueju) poem Shuzan Arakawa, who later became a teacher at the Miyakonodo Meidokan, wrote after being moved by the beauty of the area."

As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
