    This national park is located in the mountainous region of northern Honshu. The scenery of the beautiful Mt. Iwate, also called the Mt. Fuji of the Nanbu area as well as Lake Towada and the Oirase-Keiryu (a mountain stream), known as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and also designated as a Natural Monument, is spectacular. The region bustles with sightseers especially in the seasons of new green growth and autumn leaves. Mt. Hakkoda at the northernmost tip of the Ou Mountain Range boasts one of the deepest snowfalls in the country and you can enjoy mountain skiing in winter. There are several visitor and information centers within the park introducing climbing routes and exhibiting materials on nature and the Towada-Hachimantai National Park ecosystem. Towada Visitor Center provides multilingual pamphlets.

    I went to see Towada Art Musuem and I was hungry and still had time to catch the bus and goback to Aomori, so I decided to eat here! If i am in the area again, I would definitely go back!!!

    One of the Tsuta Seven Lakes located in Towada-Hachimantai National Park. The Numameguri no Komichi Path Course connects all of the lakes except Akanuma and trail walkers can enjoy the seasonal natural beauty of the area. Visitors are particularly recommended to come during the fall foliage season. The sight of the leaves reflected off the surfaces of the lakes, dying their waters red to match the foliage, is truly spectacular.

    Towada City's Symbol Road is remarkably beautiful in the townscape that is neatly partitioned in an orderly grid pattern. 165 pine trees and 156 cherry trees form four rows of trees on a road with a length of 1.1 kilometers and a width of 36 meters. Also known as a famous place for cherry blossoms, in the winter you can enjoy illuminations. It was selected as one of 100 the Best Roads in Japan, and the second 100 Most Beautiful Japanese Historical Landscapes.

    This workshop opened adjacent to Roadside Station Towadapia in 2002. It operates 55 machines gathered from farmhouses and sheds such a machine from 1856 where you can see ink writing, or machines that use razors, and 10 newly made machines. You can also experience sakiori weaving.

    Tochino Chaya is located between Towada Shrine and the port for the Lake Towada cruise boat. Next to Lake Towada, it offers you a great view of this grand lake from the glass-walled corner. As for the menu, dishes that use natural kokanee and rainbow trout from Lake Towada are popular. You can taste them with sashimi, shioyaki (salt grilled fish), and tempura, together with local wild vegetables. They also have Inaniwa udon and Nanbu soba, so you can savor all the tastes of Aomori.

    This is a statue of two young women facing each other at Gozengahama beach in Towadakohan Yasumiya. The final work of artist Kotaro Takamura, it was completed in 1953 and has become a symbol of Lake Towada.

    Shinshuya is a souvenir shop and restaurant in Okuse Towadakohan Yasumiya, Towada City. The shop sells not only specialty products from Aomori but also from Iwate and Akita too. In the restaurant on the second floor with sweeping views over Lake Towada, guests can enjoy such delights as Towada beef steak, kokanee salmon, and Hinai-jidori chicken.

    もう10年も前になる。今回も湖畔の食堂で遅い昼食を摂った。2階から湖畔を眺めながらの食事ではあった。「B級グルメ」として名を馳せた物らしいが「Bの4乗級」の食べ物であった。(タマネギは美味しかった。)この「ばら焼き」タマネギばかりが,やけに目立つ。妻はきりたんぽの鍋をオーダーしていた。1階でお土産を物色し,車を駐めたまま「乙女の像」に向かう。
