Anzu is a restaurant where customers can listen to impressive live performances of Tsugaru shamisen (a traditional stringed instrument) while dining on fresh food from both the sea and land. Live performances are held twice a day for 30 minutes at 7p.m. and 9p.m. Since the musicians perform without a microphone, customers say that the realisticfeeling is somewhat different from that of a typical live show using a microphone. The interior, decorated with kites and paper goldfish lanterns, is centered on an open hearth, and in the winter, it is possible to charcoal broil shellfish, such as scallops, spear squids, and red king crab.

As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
