Narumi Sake Brewery, founded in 1806, has the longest history as a brewery in Kuroishi City, and is famous for “Kikunoi.” It is located in Kuroishi City’s “Nakamachi Komise-dori” street, an arcade of about 600 meters of traditional and wooden buildings. Visitors are able to inspect the traditional storehouse building and can experience free tasting. Goods for sale are also available. Reservations for inspection tours are required three days in advance between late April and late October (excluding the brewing period).

Tsugaru Vidro is a type of flowing glassware handmade according to traditional techniques by skilled Tsugaru craftspeople. Its colors and designs reflect the power, gentleness, and quiet of Aomori's changing seasons and landscape. Hokuyo Glass Co., Ltd., a Tsugaru Vidro glassware producer, offers workshop tours but a private inquiry is required. At the present time, the company does not offer glassware making classes.

Aomori Areas

around-area-map

Centuries-old stories of samurai at Kakunodate and the remains of millennia-old archaeological sites including the likes of Isedotai invite history buffs to delve into Aomori's fascinating history. As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
