Cherry picking is offered from late June; as the farm's cherries are grown in plastic greenhouses, visitors can enjoy cherry picking even on rainy days.

The facility also rents and sells bathing caps and goggles.

    These facilities were established in 1929 by the former Tohoku Imperial University for the purpose of botanical research on mountainous plants and, in particular, research and education pertaining to plant ecology. Please keep in mind that the facilities are open from June 1st through October 30th and remain closed throughout the winter season. Here you can see plant species from Mt. Hakkoda such as the Japanese wood poppy, the viola vaginata, and the Rhododendron fauriei.
  • Gappo Park Beach

    "This beach is located in Gappo Park and represents Aomori City. The north side of the park is right on the beach, and since it isn't far from the urban center of the city, summer sees the park filled with people enjoying the water. Also, in the center of the park, you can see the city's designated natural monument, ""Sansho no Matsu."""

    "This museum is located a ten-minute walk from Aomori Station's West Exit. This renaissance-style building, surrounded by rich greenery, was built to be the Aomori City Obayashi Ward office building in 1908, and is a city-designated tangible cultural treasure. There are seven display rooms revolving around the hometown of Aomori inside, teaching such lessons as the importance of nature and connecting people to nature. You can also see the room of the forestry bureau chief used in the movie ""Mt. Hakkoda."" Everyone from children to the elderly can learn while enjoying themselves. The garden contains more than a hundred varieties of trees, including Yoshino cherry, hickory, and Hiba cypress, which provide a full view of the beauty of the four seasons."

There is a beach area, and a camping site, and in the summer is a popular location filled with families and sightseers.

There are very few waves at the artificial beach, which stretches out roughly 500 meters, making it perfect for families with young children. It also has showers and changing rooms. You can have barbecues in the summer, making it a great destination to have fun with your friends.

    About a 10-minute drive from Kominato Station on the Aoimori Railway, this forest park is surrounded by flowers and greenery. The cactus greenhouse is in the northeast, and there are so many different kinds. In the tropical orchid greenhouse, you can see 150 kinds of orchids over the course of a year. Additionally, this is a spot where you can enjoy an entire day with facilities that include the Yogoshiyama Auto Campsite, Yogoshiyama Cabin House, park golf courses, ski areas and Yogoshiyama hot springs.
  • Ajara-no-mori Camp Site

    This campsite was created on the plateau that spreads around the foot of Mt. Ajara. There is a wonderful view at the facilities that are surrounded by the beauty of nature, and it is particularly recommended to view the town area from here in the evening. The facilities include cabins accessible to the elderly and disabled, a bungalow in the middle of the forest, and a tent site with a large grassy area where you can fully enjoy nature. Additionally, there is also an administrative building and a cookhouse, and things can also be rented including tents and blankets. It is also nice how there is easy access to the outdoor facilities around Mt. Ajara that include things like a tennis court and a play area, as well as a hot spring facility.

    This beach is located a 15-minute walk from Same Station on the JR Hachinohe Line. It is right next to Kabushima Island, designated as a national monument as a breeding ground for seagulls, and you can see Kabushima Shrine from the coast. It has also been selected as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan, and this also includes an unusual swimming area where you can swim while listening to the cries of the seagulls. Although the beach is compact, it is crowded during the July and August season when people from nearby towns come to swim.
  • Shirahama Beach

    This beach is located approximately a five-minute walk from JR Mutsu-Shirahama Station. With white sand and crystal-clear water, the beach was listed as one of the Best Beach 100 of Japan in 2006. The sea is not far from the car park, and the beach is fully equipped with showers, toilets and changing rooms. For safety there is always a patrol boat in the water, meaning families with young children can also enjoy the beach without worry. In the summer, the beach is always lively with people swimming in the sea. This beach is also home to the famous singing sand dunes.
  • Izumishimizu Strawberry Farm

    A tourist farm where you can enjoy strawberry picking located in Hachinohe's Nango, a district with a thriving fruit cultivation industry. Here visitors can pick Nango Jazz-hime (Tochiotome) strawberries. For 60 minutes, customers can eat all the strawberries they pick. The farm's strawberries are grown in plastic greenhouses, ensuring customers can take their time and enjoy delicious, ripe, red berries no matter what the weather's like outside. Strawberry picking season is from early January to late May. Note that picking is by reservation only and thus you must contact the farm by phone in advance.
  • Crane Village Furusato Museum

    This straw-thatch home was relocated from the village of Ushirononakano in 1995. The reconstruction was done using the original materials from the over 120-year-old home, and everything from the private rooms to the living rooms, mud room, and stable are faithfully reconstructed. The museum contains a variety of artifacts that allow visitors to experience life as it was at the time, and one can almost feel the history of Tsuruta Town. Entry is free, and many visitors also stop by the nearby Tsurunomaihashi Bridge, Japan's premier wooden three-arch bridge.
  • Juniko (Twelve Lakes) Walking Trails

    Juniko Walking Trails offer a full experience of the seasonal colors of Shirakami-Sanchi and with its few slopes and well-maintained woodchip trails it’s easy to walk as well. The scenery cleanses the soul with, beautiful ponds, ancient Japanese Judas trees and beeches dotting the woods, and one of Japan’s 100 Best Springs, Wakitsubo no Ike pond. The trails are open from early April to late November. It’s an hour drive from JR Juniko Station.
