    Hokkaido Rebungunrebunchou Kafukamura Humbebeff 600
    Northern Canary Park was the location for the movie Kitano Kanariya-tachi (A Chorus of Angels). It was opened in July 2013. The Misaki (cape) branch school of the Reitan Elementary School featured in the movie is open to the public, and the movie is introduced inside the school. The park is located in the southern part of Rebun Island with spectacular views of Mt. Rishiri Fuji.

    映画やドラマの撮影地としては北海道でも富良野や夕張などが有名ですが、ここ北のカナリアパークもその一つです。映画の撮影地らしく撮影当時のものが残されています。海の向こうに見える礼文島とともに絵になる風景が見られることを期待をして訪れましたが、この日は残念ながら・・・。

    Senposhimisaki Park is a park located at Cape Senposhi, at the southernmost tip of Rishiri Island. The imposing spectacle of Mt. Rishiri is visible from the Park, and visitors can also view many unusually-shaped rocks washed ashore by the sea that were originally blasted out of Mt. Rishiri during one of its volcanic eruptions. In one corner of the beach (which is a superb place for nature observation), orphaned seals are looked after; visitors can experience feeding them.

    体が火照ったら露天風呂が良い。利尻島を眺めながら,全日の8時間コースの疲れを癒すことができた。行って損は無い。

    "Rishiri Island is a roughly circular island situated off the northwest coast of Hokkaido; the ferry journey from the port of Wakkanai to Oshidomari Port, the gateway to Rishiri, takes around one hour and 40 minutes. Rishiri has an abundance of magnificent scenery, including Mt. Rishiri, which stands tall in the middle of the Island. Also known as ""Rishiri Fuji"" because of its resemblance to Mt. Fuji, Mt.     To the Rishirifuji Onsen, the most northern hot springs in Japan to which over 30,000 people visit per year, day trips can be made to enjoy the waters of this bath resort. This onsen is a community gathering spot for all ages, from young children to the elderly. It has the outdoor open-air bath, the natural springs indoor bath, a Jacuzzi bath and a sauna. In the adjoining facility, the Yueikan, one can enjoy a free foot-bath while taking in the activities at the hot springs pool.

    前日の利尻山登山で,全身筋肉痛になってしまったので,入りに来た。鴛泊の市街地から登山道へ続く道は登り坂になるので,行きはバスで帰りは歩いて宿に帰った。温泉としては特別な感じは無かった。露天風呂は涼しいので体が火照ったら丁度良い。残円なのは水風呂の温度が低すぎることだ。

    This northernmost national park has the largest high marshland in Japan. There are many things to see on Rishiri Island, the home of the famous mountain “Mt. Rishiri”, also known as Rishiri Fuji, as well as rare plant species such as Rebun lady’s slipper and Rebun edelweiss, as well as Kanro Natural Spring which is chosen as one of the Select Best Waters of Japan, and also Penke and Panke Swamps, the landing grounds of migrating birds. In addition to being able to browse materials on the ecology of marshlands and wild birds at the “Horonobe Visitor Center” in the park, you are also able to pick up a map of the Sarobetsu wooden path there.

    "Mt. Rishiri is a 1,721 meter-high mountain on Rishiri Island, which is situated in the Sea of Japan off the northwest coast of Hokkaido, a 1 hour and 40 minute ferry journey from Wakkanai. The mountain's conical shape and wide base, which resemble Mt. Fuji, have led to it becoming known as ""Rishiri-Fuji."" It heads the list of the ""100 Famous Japanese Mountains"". From the summit, climbers can enjoy unobstructed 360-degree panoramic views. Mt. Rishiri is also a treasure-house of alpine plants; in the summer months, visitors can see the Papaver fauriei Fedde, which is endemic to Rishiri Island, in bloom. The grove of Chishima Cherry trees on the mountain's southern slopes have been designated as a Prefectural Natural Monument in Hokkaido."

    On the Motochi Coast in the south west of Rebun Island is this strange looking 50 meter high rock. As seen from the sea side, the name Jizo rock was given because it looks as though Jizo-sama (bodhisattva who looks over children) is holding hands. The area is famous for the beautiful image of the sun setting over the ocean, and the local coastal area is also a great place for children to go looking for agate stone.

    Kafuka is a seafood restaurant directly operated by the Kafuka Fishermen’s Cooperative in Rebun Town, Rebun County, Hokkaido. The restaurant serves food using mainly fresh seafood caught in the waters of Kafuka on Rebun Island. The seafood rice bowls and grilled seafood are especially well liked. Among them, the ezo-bafun uni (short-spined sea urchin) raised in Rebun is fed high quality Rishiri kelp and tastes exquisite. Many people come here from far away, looking for sea urchin rice bowls and live sea urchin which can only be had from May to September. The grilled Okhotsk atka mackerel topped with miso is also a very popular and well-known dish.

    This observatory is located near the tip of Cape Peshi on Rishiri Island, Hokkaido. When the weather is good, the observatory provides excellent views of Mt. Rishiri, Rebunto Island and the mainland of Hokkaido. The view in the early morning, as the sun rises over the Sea of Japan, giving both the sea and sky an orange tint, is particularly spectacular.

    Himenuma Pond is located on Rishiri Island around five kilometers from the Oshidomari ferry terminal; it is a small pond with a circumference of around one kilometer. There are footpaths round the edge of the pond, and visitors can enjoy strolling round, admiring the reflection of Mt. Rishiri in the lake and listening to the songs of wild birds.

    This is a trekking course of about 6.4 kilometers from Kafuka, in the south of Rebun Island to the Momoiwa Observatory, via the Motochi Lighthouse, continuing on to Shiretoko. The course shows all of Rebun Island’s charm and visitors can enjoy the scenery overlooking the blue sea and Rishiri Fuji as well as the Valley of Kimbai full of alpine plants. There is a bus stop at the base of the Momoiwa mountain path and Shiretoko and there is a route bus between the ferry wharf at Kafuka. It is also possible to begin the course part way through so you can enjoy trekking suited to your experience.

    From the Yuhigaoka Sunset Viewing Observatory, you can see the “Fujinoenchi” north of route 105. You can see Ponmoshiri Island up close as well as overlook Rishiri Fuji. A highlight is in July when the area turns yellow with many daylily flowers.

    A marshy area on Rishiri Island off of Hokkaido. Small and just one kilometer in circumference, the area is protected as part of the surrounding Rishiri Wetlands, which have been designated a Natural Monument by the town of Rishirifuji. The waters of the marsh are a characteristic azure. A 1.5 kilometer walkway has been built around the area to make it easy for visitors to get around. The view of the marsh's lake and Mt. Rishiri is used on the packaging of the popular Shiroi Koibito confection, and the area where you can take in the same viewing angle has been dubbed Shiroi Koibito Hill.
