    The Shibetsu Salmon Museum, which you can observe how salmon spawns, displays more than 18 related species and 30 species of salmon from around the world. Visitors can learn about ecology to the salmon food culture. The museum places an emphasis on educational activities and holds events such as releasing fry (young fish). The museum is closed from December to January and is approximately 35 minutes by car from Nemuro Nakashibetsu Airport.

    This facility was opened in April 1995 to serve as a base for protecting and observing the natural beauty of Shunkunitai. Shunkunitai is a 596 hectare shoal located in Nemuro City, Hokkaido. Included in the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands list, the shoal is a breeding ground for rare birds such as white-tailed eagles and Japanese cranes; it has also been designated an Important Wild Bird Habitat. The center has a photo exhibit presenting the animals that live in Nemuro and a bird watching room for observing overwintering Stellar's sea eagles and other birds living in the area. The center also provides two hour walking tours during which you can see a variety of wild creatures.

    定期観光バスのノサップ号で訪問しました。根室は野鳥の宝庫で、ここに着く前にタンチョウも見れました。遠くからですが。つがいが数家族いるみたいです。なぜ野鳥がこんなにいるのか丁寧に説明してもらえます。

    This ancient temple apparently began with a temple dedicated to three deities as a protective spirit during early fishing market restrictions by Hokkaido settler Takadaya Kahei. As Hokkaido was opened to settlement, the shrine gathered more and more reverence as a guardian spirit of household and family safety, as well as fisheries, animal husbandry, and commerce. Most years, August sees its grand festival, the city's biggest event. It's a parade of beautiful portable shrines, with over 200 hundred lined up under the sky. People come to join from all over the country to join in this symbol of Nemuro's summer.

    ノサップ号の観光バスで今年も訪問しました。館内に過去の例大祭のビデオ放映がありますが、かなり規模が大きいです。コロナで中止になっていましたが今年は復活できそうで、また来たいですね。入り口に展望台があって、そこからの眺めが気に入ってます。

There is also a Russian culture room where you can get a real taste of the country's culture, and the Northern Territories museum, to see with your own eyes and hear with your own ears about this unique part of Japan's history, the Northern Territories."

    観光バスノサップ号で訪問しました。すごく立派な施設です。最初に15分くらいの説明映画を見て館内を自由見学。２階には江戸時代の木造船の模型もあります。ロシアとの文化交流の機会もあるようで、きれいな部屋もありました。北方領土のことがよくわかります。

    This museum is a red brick building built in 1942 as the Nemuro Detachment Office of the Ominato Navy Signal Unit, and presently collects, stores and exhibits materials on the history and nature of Nemuro City and its surroundings. It has precious materials, such as a drawing of a Russian ship drawn when Laxman visited Japan, boundary stones placed on the 50 degrees north latitude line in Karafuto and showed the border between Japan and Russia, and Chishima sea otter specimens.

    This is a famous cherry blossom spot in Nemuro, famous for being the end of the Cherry Blossom season in Japan. It's located about a ten-minute walk from Nemuro Station, and the grounds are planted with Chishima cherry trees over 150 years old. The Chishima cherry trees were replanted from Kunashiri Island in the early Meiji period, and are also called Etorofu and Kunashiri cherry. They are marked by being much shorter than other cherry tree varieties. The official Full Bloom Announcement for Nemuro, which usually comes in May, is made based on a Chishima cherry tree standard at the former Nemuro Weather Measurement Station. This is the nation's only Chishima cherry tree standard, and many people come from all over Japan to see the spring at the eastern edge of Japan.

    This facility is inside Bokyo no Misaki Park, at the eastern tip of Cape Nosappu. It was built to display materials helping to locate the Northern Territories. The local geography and poor climate conditions result in lots of days with terrible fog, restricting vision, so this facility was built to help encourage public recognition and to support the spirits of those who once lived on the islands. It helps educate the public about the origins and history of the islands. There are also displays of materials relating to the lifestyles of the residents who called the islands home, as well as the old city scape and maps showing the old addresses, all filled with prayers for the lost homes. It's a wonderful place to learn about these historic islands.

It was constructed with the strong desire for the return of the northern territories and the “Fire of Prayer” at the base of the statue burns continuously during opening hours of the Hoppokan (Northern Hall).

    ロングトレイル「北根室ランチウェイ」の中間地点として訪れました。佐伯牧場敷地内にあります。昭和３０年代の周辺の様子を保存した建物が印象に残りました。

    中標津町にはかつて標津線が走っていました。既に廃線になってしまいましたが、その郷土品を展示しているのが中標津町郷土館です。鉄道に関する数々の展示品は鉄道ファン必見です。

    普通の神社です。カラスのねぐらの森になってます。繁殖期になると巣を作るので威嚇してくるカラスがたくさんいますよ。

    実家の祖父からのお付き合いです。とてもいいお寺と思っていました。親が亡くなり自宅葬にしたい旨を伝え、戒名をお願いしたところ『お葬式をしなければ戒名は書かない、簡単には渡すことはできない』6分間の話し合いは無駄でした。そして『うちが嫌ならよそのお寺さんに書いてもらってください』住職さんの奥さんに言われ、途方に暮れました。 そんなお寺です。

    珸瑤瑁の地元の寺院のようでした。道道に面して境内が広がり、山門等が無い為、正面の本堂が目立っていました。 境内は舗装されてなかったものの本堂は寒冷地仕様の建築物と見受けられました。

    市内中心部に位置する日蓮正宗寺院でした。大きく寺号の刻まれた標識はありましたが、境内の建物は一見すると寺院風では無く何かの公的施設かホールの様でもありました。

    歯舞地区に立つ真宗大谷派の寺院でした。道道に面して境内が広がり正面には大きな本堂が配されていました。建物自体は寒冷地仕様のようで、白い外壁に対して赤い屋根が特徴的でした。
