You can really appreciate the true beauty of nature from here. The lavender park is open from late June through to mid-August.

The garden has approximately 20,000 individual plants belonging to over 450 different species, giving visitors a real experience of the natural beauty of Furano. In the summer, the “Night Garden,” in which the trees and plants are specially illuminated under the starry skies, enables visitors to enjoy an even more magically beautiful scene.

    This garden with the blooming flowers is so lovely. Even my hubby enjoyed viewing the many many different types of flowers and plants. Very well maintained garden and cottage.

    Besides grape vineyards, Furano Grape Hill Park in the Shimizuyama district of Furano City also has lavender fields. The pale purple fields are just exactly the kind of beautiful scene that people associate with Furano. Furano Grape Hill Park is also a popular place to enjoy a meal at the wine production facility or at the nearby wine-lodge.

    If you look for somewhere to relax after a hot morning under the sun, this park is a good place to chill.

    The Goto Sumio Museum is dedicated to the work of Japanese painter Goto Sumio, who has been depicting the natural beauty of Hokkaido in his paintings for half a century. The Museum displays a comprehensive range of Mr. Goto’s work, from the first of his paintings to be selected for inclusion in the Japanese Art Institute Exhibition and other early works through to his landscapes and sketches showing the flowers associated with different seasons of the year. The Museum shop sells books containing collections of paintings, exhibition catalogs, etc. The Museum restaurant, “Furano Grill,” is also highly recommended; while they eat, diners can enjoy spectacular views of the peaks of Mt. Tokachi and the nearby hills. The Museum is around 5 minutes’ drive from JR Kamifurano Station.

    We werent quite sure what to expect from the Gallery, but we ended up spending longer here than we had planned for, the art work is breath-taking / magnificent ! Well worth the entrance fee of 1,040...

    In the foothills of Mt. Tokachi, surrounded by Japanese larch trees and white birch forests, “Kaiku Kiln” exhibits unique objects and reliefs, as well as everyday items. Visitors can try their hand at making clocks and painting, as well as making mugs of Takuro who appeared in the drama “Affectionate Time” (Yasashii Jikan). There are also cottages available for use by families and groups.

There are natural landscape photographs taken with a high definition camera, as well as four images like Biei From the Air - Blue Pond shot using a drone. They also sell original products like calendars and postcards featuring Haruo Kikuchi's photos.

    Japan's first ski in ski out village, the Hotalu Street, opened in December, 2017 is part of Hoshino Resort Tomamu, in Shimukappu Village, YufutsuCounty, Hokkaido. The village is lined with matching wood structured stores where one can enjoy a quick meal or a little shopping. In the winter, one can enter the street on a snowboard or skis, have a bite to eat and get right back to skiing. Easily accessible from the two tower accommodations, the Tower and the Risonare, the village can be enjoyed by both those skiing, snowboarding, or not. During summer months, the street is lined with outdoor liquor and sweets vendors, allowing one to experience the expansive Hokkaido nature. The village is available to both overnight guests and day visitors.
