    Travel / Tourism
    Hokkaido Tomakomaishi Tarumae
"A 60-minute drive from New Chitose Airport. When visiting this sightseeing destination, look for the sign on National Route 36. The area was designated a Natural Environment Preservation District by Tomakomai City in 1979. There is a parking lot in front of the Tarumae Garo Bridge; the gorge can be walked to from there. ""Garo"" means ""place where a river runs through cliffs"" in the Tohoku dialect, and as this name implies, the site consists of steep cliffs; the rocks of the cliffs and surrounding area are thickly covered with moss. Because of its unusual scenery, it is a great place to take some photos. Due to the risk of the bedrock near the river collapsing, visitors should not descend down to it."

    Hokkaido Tomakomai-shi Uenae 138-3
This ramen shop is famous for its curry ramen, a local gourmet item in Tomakomai. The soup is made with a paste that has over ten different spices and fruit. With its rich tonkotsu (pork broth) base, it has a thick and traditional taste. The soup goes incredibly well with the medium-thick wrinkled noodles.
