    Toyako Visitor Center and Volcano Science Museum is an exhibition facility that introduces the natural environment around Lake Toya and the natural history of Mt. Usu. You can learn about the volcanic activity through commentary panels with a focus on huge aerial photographs and actual specimens, as well as the ecology of the animals and plants and the mechanism of the lake. You can also experience walking around Nakajima Island which formed in the middle of Lake Toya about 50,000 years ago, and there are regular workshops and events such as making watches with tree nuts. You can have fun while connecting with nature.

    Lake Toya Forest Museum, which is open between late April and the end of October every year, was built in 1955 on Nakanoshima Island in the middle of Lake Toya. The Museum’s displays focus mainly on Hokkaido’s forest resources, while also covering the natural environment and wildlife of Lake Toya. Ekimae-sambashi, the pier from which the tourist boats depart for Nakanoshima Island, is located behind Hotel Grand Toya.

It gushes 80,000 tons of water per day with a constant water temperature of about 6.5 degrees throughout the year. Many people visit to draw the water which was chosen as one of a hundred famous waters nationally. There is a collection space to collect the spring water installed for convenience.

    This is a guest Ranch specializing in horse trekking, and is located two hours by car from Sapporo half way to Hakodate. Visitors can overlook Lake Toya, Mt. Usu and Mt. Showa Shinzan, recognized as the first “World Geopark” in Japan, while enjoying horse trekking. There is also a family course for those with small children, and anyone can join if they can straddle a horse alone without being afraid. There is a full mountain course for adults or those with a height of 140 centimeters or more. The course can be enjoyed by both experienced and inexperienced riders.

    An amusement park operating inside Rusutsu Resort. One of the largest amusement parks in Hokkaido, the park has some 60 attractions. This includes eight popular and exciting roller coasters. There are also less stimulating rides for children and those who don't like thrill rides. The park has much more to offer on top of this, including go-carts, a merry-go-round, a mini zoo, garden, and game arcade. There are indoor and outdoor pools, too. The park is closed due to snow in winter, and during this time extra maintenance is conducted on the rides and attractions.
  • Konpira Crater-Remnants of the Disaster Walking Trail

    These trails meander around the remaining structures and remnants that were affected by the Mt. Usuzan's eruption in 2000. The trails, located in Toyako Town, start behind the Toyako Visitor's Center and Volcanic Science Hall. If visiting only the relics, the walk will only take about 30 minutes, but the full-trail course is two hours. Near the entryway is an observation tower, where one can view the Yasuragi no Ie, which used to be the municipal hot springs bath, prior to the eruption. Even with the passing of time since the eruption, one can sense the power and awfulness of nature in the sight inside the remaining sturdily structure that was swallowed with muddy waters. With just a little detour off the trails, one can come upon an exquisite emerald bright crater called the Yukun crater.

There's also a petting pool where visitors can touch skates and horseshoe crabs, a Ferris wheel, merry go round and other attractions throughout the park.

    This theme park is in Noboribetsu. This village lets you experience Edo period culture and scenery yourself, as well as letting you dress up as a ninja, samurai, princess and more for a photo shoot. There are also attractions like legend-based plays, ninja houses, classes in shuriken throwing and Japanese archery, and more to make this a place to truly see, play, and learn.

    It's basically a historical theme park, with a few games and shows to check out. It's not exactly 100% historical realism but it's nicely set up.
