This racecourse in Obihiro City, Hokkaido is the only racecourse in the world where regular ban’ei races are held. Ban’ei horse racing is a race where horses compete against each other by pulling heavy weighted iron sleds. Horses are raced along a 200 meter long track over two slopes with the jockey riding on top of the sled while controlling the power and direction of the horse. At the racecourse you can find shops, a museum about horses, and a petting zoo where you can meet some of the animals. It’s a nice place to bring the children. They also conduct tours around the stables and other areas at extra charge.

Amazing spectacle. Very cheap to get in 100 y. Horses pulling heavy sleds on a sand track. Very unique.

All of the plants inside the 4,950 square meters of land that includes assorted trees from Hokkaido such as Japanese white birch and magnolia as well as more than 2,500 types of flowers were planted by Shichiku, and seeing the appearance of the garden change each season is a soothing sight to behold. The park has a restaurant and a horticulture shop.
