"This tourist farm is 18,000 square meters in size and produces a variety of cherry such as ""Sato Nishiki"", ""Beni Shuho"", ""Nanyo"" and ""Suimon"", as well as prune varieties such as ""Sun Prune"", and ""Purple Eye"". Special attention is paid to using organic fertilizer and tree pruning. The farm actively collaborates with local elementary and junior high schools to convey the wonder of orchards and agriculture to the younger generation. At the charcoal grill restaurant on site visitors can enjoy charcoal grilled chicken and local wines and whisky. The indoor barbecue is also popular."

This hot spring is in the middle of a caldera basin. The hot water is drawn from the hot spring that flows from the once active volcano. The magnificent bathhouse has a large glass window and towering rock wall. The main bath is framed with stone. Hot water of almost 50℃ drops like a waterfall from the top of the piled rocks. This hot spring flowing from the source directly is popular across a wide range of ages. The outdoor bath beyond the glass window has a feeling of spaciousness like a garden. The bath is surrounded by a fence and in the winter is a great spot to view the magical snow scenery while sitting in the bath.

"This is a smokery renovated from an old house. It is one of only a few in Hokkaido, and the products that are smoked slowly over a period of one to three weeks are very popular. The store uses a mix of oak and beech sawdust from Hokkaido only. The products are seasoned simply with just salt, with no added preservatives or coloring. Other than most popular item, which is crab, seafood such as herring and atka mackerel and smoked vegetables such as carrots and potatoes are available. The rare ""smoked tofu"", only available at this shop, is also popular."

This tourist orchard overlooks the Sea of Japan and the township of Yoichi City. The farm prides itself on its ripe fruit grown using organic fertilizer, paying particular attention to fruits such as cherries, apples and grapes. All-you-can-eat fruit picking experiences for an unlimited time is available. Enjoy freshly picked juicy sweet fruit to your heart's content. The apple wine made from Bramley seedlings originally from the UK is popular. The apples cultivated on the farm are naturally brewed and bottled unfiltered making a refined, aromatic, moderately sour wine.

Kakizaki Shoten is a popular restaurant where you can get fresh Hokkaido seafood at great prices. Not only is it frequented by locals but it is also widely visited by backpackers, bikers, and tourists. Their specialty dish is the seafood rice bowl topped with plenty of seafood and tasty looking salmon roe. Depending on the season you can also enjoy limitedly available dishes such as sea urchin and northern shrimp, in addition to their grilled fish meals and sashimi. It’s such a popular restaurant you can’t get away from the queues at lunch time.

A father and younger brother of a sea urchin fisherman proudly create dishes with fresh sea urchin direct from the source at this restaurant in Shakotan Town, Shakotan County, Hokkaido. The restaurant’s signature dish, raw sea urchin rice bowl, is a gloriously simple mix of sea urchin, nori (dried seaweed) and rice. Shakotan sea urchins are served for a limited time only from between June and August. They also have plenty of other dishes on the menu to enjoy such as sea urchin and salmon roe rice bowl, and sashimi set meals. The restaurant is easily recognizable with its blue roof on white walls.

夕方近くに積丹半島のウニを食べたくて、探して見つけたお店です。どこも空いてなくて、このお店周辺だけ何店舗か開いてました。ウニ丼。ウニたっぷりで臭みもなく、とても美味しかったです。もう一つの三色丼、こちらも普通においしくいただきました。証明が節電のためか、少し暗めだったのが気になりました。

Converted from an old banya, or simple lodging house, is this impressive looking restaurant located in Shakotan Town, Shakotan County, Hokkaido. The restaurant owner is himself a fisherman and inside the restaurant you can find the place decked out with all sorts of fishing paraphernalia. Their signature dish, red sea urchin rice bowl made with the prized ezo-bafun uni (short-spined sea urchin), is only available from the middle of June to late August. You can enjoy the melting taste of this sweet, rich sea urchin. Other popular dishes include their large seafood rice bowl with masses of seafood packed on top of the rice. The restaurant is only open from late April through to early November.

East Shakotan Fisheries Cooperative Direct Sales Store is located in Furubira, Furubira District, Hokkaido. Being run by the Fisheries Cooperative, it is able to offer ultra-fresh fish and seafood at very reasonable prices; depending on the season, Northern Shrimp, Okhotsk Atka Mackerel, Salmon, Cod etc. are available for sale. Furubira is famous for its sea urchins; the sea urchin season lasts roughly from June to August. The Store also sells processed foods made in the factory next door, of which the most popular is Salted Whelks, which makes an ideal snack to accompany a drink of sake.

It takes about 95 minutes by bus from Sapporo city center.

These historic remains from the post Jomon period is located on a roughly 200 meter-high plain on the Sea of Japan’s south coast. Primitive iconic images of people, animals and boats are engraved everywhere on the walls giving the place a mysterious atmosphere. Earthenware and stoneware have been excavated, and this cave is a highly valued historic site.

ウニが名物の積丹でも有名なお店。特に朝獲れのウニを盛り放題の丼が知られていますが、私が訪れたお昼はもう終わっているので、行列もなくすんなり入れました。どっさりとウニが入った箱ごと出てくる生ウニ丼、ウニ、小女子、エビ、タコなどがこんもりと乗っかった海鮮前浜ヤン衆丼、どちらも満足でした！
