- Café Gake no ue, literally meaning cafe on the cliff, is as the name suggests perched on top of a 40 meter high cliff overlooking the Shirai River and located a short distance from the Jozankei hot-spring resort in Minami Ward, Sapporo City, Hokkaido. Built so that the cafe protrudes from the cliff, the beauty of the valley with the Shirai River flowing directly below can be enjoyed from the seats at the back of the cafe. About 10 seats can be squeezed on to the cozy terrace which is only open during the summer months. Take some time out and enjoy the cafe menu, including aromatic siphon (vacuum pot) coffee, and gake no ue cake made with sour cream butter, all while taking in the beautiful natural green surroundings.

- A cafe and shop built on the Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill easily identifiable by its red roof. The structure was erected to house the Australian athletes during the Sapporo Olympics; after the event was over, it was moved to its current location. The first floor is the cafe area while the shop is located on the second floor. The soft serve ice cream counter sells distinctly Hokkaido-style flavors such as Shiroi Koibito and melon. 子供が遊びに行っている合間に久々に夫婦だけになったので一休みしようと入店しました。 スタバはいつも混んでいるイメージしかないので敬遠しがちですが、今回は比較的空いていたので良かった！ コーヒーの種類も豊富だし、フードメニューも多いので久しぶりに行くと楽しい感じでした。あまり長居せず一休みするなら良いですね！

宮の沢駅周辺には禁煙でゆっくり寛げるカフェが少なく、生涯学習センターであるちえりあの一画にあるタリーズコーヒーは、老若男女が集うサードプレイス として有り難い存在である。昼前後から午後にかけては少し混み合うが、ちょっとした作業や読書、談笑の場として果たす役割は大きい。

発寒イオンは広いので、買い物が長引くとちょっと休みたくなることがあります。サンマルクカフェは、施設2階のちょうど真ん中あたりにあるので、休憩場所としては最適です。 ただし、半分以上が通路に面したオープンの席なので、好みが分かれるかもしれません。 通路から見えづらい席もあるにはあるのですが、喫煙室の近くなので。おタバコを気にされるからは確認してからお座りになることをオススメします。
