    Hokkaido Asahikawa-shi Miyashitadori 11 Kamikawa Warehouse
    A city block with brick warehouses that were once attached to Asahikawa Station. Founded around 1900 by the early Taisho period there were 21 warehouses and were being used as a logistics base for the pioneering and development of Hokkaido. The Kamikawa Warehouse district, registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, now contain a number of different businesses including a design gallery, a collection hall, and the Taisetsu Local Beer Hall. Many brick warehouses still remain in Hokkaido but this crowding of a number of relatively smaller warehouses is a unique site that you won't find anywhere else. This famous location is also one part of the development of the Kitasaito Asahikawa district around Asahikawa Station.

    Rice field art draws a picture with the different colors of rice plants using the rice paddy as a canvas. The pictures filling the 40-meter tall and 170-meter wide field definitely leave an impact and have become a summer time feature.

    This park was established in 1914, and is planted with about 1,000 cherry trees of 17 types, including Yoshino cherries. The Sakura festival held every May since 1950 brings about 100,000 visitors to this famous cherry blossom spot every year.

    This is a famous cherry blossom spot in Nemuro, famous for being the end of the Cherry Blossom season in Japan. It's located about a ten-minute walk from Nemuro Station, and the grounds are planted with Chishima cherry trees over 150 years old. The Chishima cherry trees were replanted from Kunashiri Island in the early Meiji period, and are also called Etorofu and Kunashiri cherry. They are marked by being much shorter than other cherry tree varieties. The official Full Bloom Announcement for Nemuro, which usually comes in May, is made based on a Chishima cherry tree standard at the former Nemuro Weather Measurement Station. This is the nation's only Chishima cherry tree standard, and many people come from all over Japan to see the spring at the eastern edge of Japan.

    "This art park in Moerenuma Park was created as a base for the ""Circular Greenbelt Concept"", intended to encircle the City of Sapporo with parks and greenery. The park was created on the design of Isamu Noguchi, a world-renowned sculptor, based on the concept of ""the whole being a single sculpture"". There are about 1,900 cherry trees, mostly sargent cherries, and the park is a popular spot for cherry blossoms in Sapporo in the spring. There are seven playground equipment areas hidden in the cherry blossoms, and all of them are designed by Isamu Noguchi."

  • Moere Beach

    This water playground in Moerenuma Park was designed by Isamu Noguchi, a world-famous sculptor. The park, 2000 square meters in size, is created on an image of the seaside. Enjoy a relaxing stroll on the promenade centered around the gently sloping bowl-shaped site. Many people put up beach tents and relax. The water that springs from the center of the pond creates a beautiful rippling effect and extends to the edge paved with coral. Even the deepest part at the center is only 45-centimeters deep, so small children are able to play safely.

    This five-way intersection is located in Irifune, Otaru City. It is one of Otaru City's most famous sightseeing spots and has the official name of Sakaimachi Intersection. A nightlight and a steam-powered clock have been built here, and the medieval European atmosphere is quite stunning.
  • Daisetuzan Kogen Onsen / Izuminonuma Autumn Leaves Circular Course

    This famous spot for viewing the red leaves of Autumn is located at an altitude of 1260 meters, almost in the very center of Hokkaido. It has a breathtakingly superb view of Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan's largest national park. This area, also known as The Roof of Hokkaido, is in an area where the most snow falls in all of Hokkaido. It is also famous as the site of the inn, Daisetsu Kogen Sanso, which is only open 123 days a year. The summers are short, and the autumn leaves come earliest here, creating a world of primary colors like a painting. During the peak autumn leaves viewing period, this area bustles with many mountain climbers as one of the most famous spots in Hokkaido.
  • Karikachi Pass Plum Orchard

    Around one thousand Bungo Japanese apricot trees bloom in this orchard. Although the orchard is located at a high altitude and in a cool climate, many of the trees still bloom, so it is called a miracle orchard.

    This weir is located slightly east from Hokkaido Prefectural Tokachi Ecology Park. Located at the midstream of Tokachi River, it was built as a water intake facility for the surrounding farms in 1935. It was also used for the cultivation of salmon and trout. It was designated as a civil engineering heritage site by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers because of its extraordinary historical value. It is currently used as a trapping area for harvesting salmon roe, and from September to October every year, it is a famous spot for watching large numbers of autumn salmon make their upstream journey.

    The red leaves of fall can be seen in Noboribetsu Onsen-cho at their most beautiful every year over the approximately one-month long period between late September to late October. There are observation decks located in the famous sightseeing spots of Jigokudani and Oyunuma, and one of the most attractive aspects is that visitors can enjoy the view shrouded in the rising steam. The trees have a beautiful gradation from the reds of the Japanese rowan and Japanese sumac to the oranges and yellows of the other trees. Another attractive aspect is that the fall leaves can be viewed from up close on the promenade.
